Engine not starting (battery is fine)

I just tried starting my car and it sounds like it turns over for maybe half a second then just dies down. I don't know if this has to do with it but I accidentally sat on the alarm button so while the alarm was still going off I pressed the brake and tried starting the car but then it just died down, now it won't start whatsoever. It's also relatively cold so that may be a part of it but I doubt it since I've been driving it fine the past couple of days below freezing.

Not yet, waiting for my friend to get back w cables. But I figured the battery wouldn't be the problem since everything else works fine, unless I'm mistaken.

You battery is dying. Have it checked out. It might have enough power to open up the doors, but maybe not enough to crank it. That's how mine died.

I second this. Mine did a similar thing when my battery was dying. Been fine since I topped off the battery after jump starting.

Yep, yep. Since the starter function is "by wire", it is electronically controlled by the ecu (not a physical keyswitch) which, if it determines there is insufficient voltage/amperage to function the starter properly, will abort the attempt.

That seems to be the problem, thanks guys. Had to jump start my car this morning again for the initial start. Any recommendations on good batteries?

For the price, quality, and warranty, I'd go with Costco, but AutoZone's Duralast Gold is similar for slightly more money.

I had the Costco's Kirkland Battery for over a year now. I had it tested last week and it was still good. Can't beat the price and warranty with the Costco batteries.

incase there is no costco around, or you dont have a membership, Sam's batteries are nice too, and their warranty is great as well.

Had one in my honda, took it in, replaced under warranty for $6 (damn honda goes through batteries every 2 years, no matter what brand, but if that is the biggest problem I have, I'll take it)
