Horrible gas milage?
car is 07 G35x. Since the start of winter i have been getting about 290 miles per tank. Horrible. I know with the X it would be worse but this past summer it wasn't this bad. Is it what they put in the gas during the winter or is that a myth?
Synthetic oil changed 2k miles ago. New air filters 3 months ago. Car has 81K on it with original spark plugs...could that be it? I really don't drive the hell out of it. only go about 70-73 on the highways but most of my driving is in the city..but same in summer time.

Lol you're complaining about 290 a tank?
That's awesome. I wish I could get that.
Just local city driving I get 190-200 a tank
Mixed city/highway is about 260
All highway about 320-340
Our cars have horrible gas mileage, this has always been a known issue. Nothing to worry about.
If the mpg bothers you then this car may not be for you unfortunately. Changing the spark plugs may help a bit. City driving is not good for these cars. Nothing new here unfortunately.
Ps yes there is a summer and winter blend for gas. Winter usually goes down a bit on Mpg's. Also we tend to idle our cars more in cold weather which burns fuel also.

^^ Agreed willdogs, they are not economy cars by any means, but if I'm not mistaken, your right foot does tend toward the heavier side; am I right? ![Wink](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Anton, I can neither agree or disagree that your mileage was horrible at 290 per tank, because that means nothing to me unless you equate that to how many gallons you used to refill it. Some folks refill their tanks when they are at 1/4 full, which in my car means there's more than 5 gallons left including the reserve. SO if you went 290 miles on less than 15 gallons of gas, you're getting about 20mpg, which isn't bad at all for an X model in the city.

All I know is when I use 10% ethanol mix I get 10% less gas mileage, might as well just pour 2 gallons on the ground
Winter gas & summer gas here is a big difference in mpg. The "pure" non ethanol petro I get 28mpg hwy all day long, w/ the crap winter gas I'm lucky to get 25. I'd rather not talk about city mpg w/ the chit gas.

My mileage on my 07x ranges between 220-260 on a full tank in the city only, it fluctuates. Pure highway I've gotten 400 miles out of a tank and that's all I could squeeze. Ever since my throttle body cleaning nightmare happened my MPGs has went down sadly. I'm coming in on 100k miles though so I'm sure some tuning up is in the near future.

With the tanks i've filled so far with mine (had it since September of last year), i've been averaging between 14-16 MPG, 90-100% city driving with an average speed of 17-20mph (just converting these numbers since i'm in Canada :P).
Doesn't help that i have to warm it up a little usually about half a minute or so whenever i set off in the mornings to reduce those RPMs. And it also doesn't help that everywhere i go, i'll have to come back up a hill coming home regardless.
Still, it's well worth it behind the wheel

In my 2005 G I pushed 600 miles on a tank of gas when I drove to California and hit the flat lands. It isn't uncalled for to get good mileage. Hell, i'v pushed 500miles to a tank in this car...
During the winter however... I get 200-260 on a tank of gas doing around town driving. I start it, warm it for a few minutes, then go 7 miles and shut it off. This is just not efficient for gas mileage.
Last tank, i averaged 15.5mpg calculated which I guess, isn't too terrible... but it isn't good either. My car likes the summer and the highway.. lol
