New Owner of a G35S, have some questions.

Been looking for "the right" G35 for the past 2 years now. Finally got one I was looking for!!!

2007 G35 Sport Sedan 5AT with 85,000km, Platinum Graphite Metallic on black
Technology / Premium / Navigation Packages.

Exterior is almost flawless, no rust and a few minor scratches that should buff out, the interior is almost in mint condition. It even has an extra set of rims and rubber for winter.

My brother in law works for Mercedes Benz here in Ontario and this came in on a trade. He called me right away and said this is the one I have been looking for. Took it for a spin and man it was solid! Everything worked, no rattles, nice and flat in the corners, no hesitations, motor was sharp and smooth.... you get the point. I had a really good gut feeling about it after about an hour of ripping around town in it. I had to act fast because it was going to auction in a few days (Merc dealers only sell Merc at his location), so it was an as is sale.

So I picked it up! Took the risk, but I really didn't feel it had any problems. And the whole sale price was just too good to pass up. Will post some pictures once the weather gets better here.

Anyway more to the point. I have no service records at all for it. The CarProof / Car Fax was clean. Can I just take to any Infiniti dealer the get them in Canada?

I know with the older G35 models the window motors and the head unit would fail, is this a common problem with the V36? Anything else the V36s suffer from?

Away super happy to finally be a G owner!

I'm not sure about up north, but in the states you can go to most any dealer and get service records. Seems like there's nothing to lose by asking them; worst they could say is NO.

Well when I got mine back in September, I just went to the Infiniti dealer (over on the West Coast in BC) and was hoping for the best. Just asked for the service records and provided the VIN. They came back with a printout of the service record. Was good that the owner went to the dealer for service least once a year. And that the owner always requested synthetic oil however they seemed to stretch those intervals closer to the end (went in every 6-8 months rather than by mileage which stretched the intervals).

So in short, YES. Though it was strange how it was missing the initial pre-delivery inspection on it since another vehicle we bought had that showing.

my infiniti dealer gave me all of the info of stuff that was done at the dealership. if nothing done at dealership...you probably won't find it without receipts. I do most of the work on my car so my car fax will show nothing for a year or so

Thanks everyone. I called the dealer in my area and they said flat out "unless they got the car serviced here we have no records of it."

So I called the dealer where the car was purchased in 2008 and they had very little info about the vehicle. The only records they had was a maintenance checkup at 81,000km. Got some new rotors and pads as well oil change and inspection. Mechanic noted nothing else on the car that was cause for concern.

So I am going to call around to other dealers in the area. Past owner could have gone to about many other dealerships in greater Toronto area so it could be just dumb luck if I get anything else.

I wonder if I contact Infiniti Canada directly if that would do anything? They must know the full history of the car if it was maintained at any Infiniti dealer ... or am I wrong that with all the computers and networks these days they somehow haven't globalized their data base?

Anyway love the car . I has been raining heavily here last few days (clean streets!!) so I have been having fun with the VDC and TCS off.

Another question is about oil.

From what I have read 5w-30 or 0w-40 is the way to go for the VQ35HR. Does this sound right for Southern Ontario?

Guys, the answers to a lot of those questions are right there in the owners manual. If you don't have one, you can download it for free (just by registering) at http://x.infinitihelp.com/forum/loca...s.php?catid=56
