Are these services overpriced?

Hi everyone! I went to an INFINITI dealership today and had my 07 G35 Sedan serviced which currently has 65000 Miles on it. After the oil change, dealership told me they inspected my G35 and found some problems on it. But I think the final price is too pricey. Here are the "Inspection Recommendations" they gave me including the price.

1. Replace both windshield wiper blades (Found windshiled wiper blades excessively worn)
$74.00 (I think maybe I can replace them from Autozone?)
2. Perform fuel injection service (Found fuel injection service due by time or owners manual)
$179.95
3. Perform power steering system fluid exchange service (Found power steering fulid excessively dirty)
$179.95
4. Replace cabin air filter (Found cabin air filter excessively dirty)
$97.50
5. Perform cooling system service (Coolant due by time/mileage)
$179.95
6. Perform brake system fulid exchange (Found brake fulid level excessively low)
$179.95

TOTAO: $1090.95(with tax...)

Now, here is the question:
I think these "Recommendations" are overpriced. If they are, where can I get cheaper and RELIABLE service? I just moved to this country, not very familiar with the business here. I'm currently living in Chicago, only 1 Infiniti dealership in downtown.

Thanks for your advice!

Standard dealership prices but still way more than it needs to be. Find a local garage to do it for less than half.

Send me a PM ONLY if you are in Socal.

Not sure about other ones but even the expensive wiper blades go for about $40 a pair if not on sale & cabin filters are about $20 for Wix brand. Both these are easily DIY things. Then again those are dealer prices.

These reasonably priced (sarcasm noted) are how the dealership makes its modest living, you shouldnt be here putting them down about their reasonable living.

Honestly, if you are out of warranty, there is very little reason to go to the dealer.

I have found a shop that is right next to work, they are not the cheapest, but so far they have only been honest with us. We now are giving them a total of 6 cars from my work, so its almost weekly they get business from us.

I would recommend you find a local shop, tell us where you are, and you will get a lot suggestions, or try the search feature.

Good luck... (also the wipers and cabin filters are easy DIY's you should totally do it yourself.)

1. I get wiper refills from Infiniti Dealer and they replaced it for me for $25.
2. Not necessary
3. Did it myself- only $10 for a bottle of Dexron Mobil Synthetic ATF (easily done with turkey baster)
4. Did it myself- only $15 for the air filter from Amazon (better quality too and easily done yourself)
5. My local mechanic did cooling service for $60
6. Same local mechanic did brake fluid service for $80

Total: $190

Dealer prices are outrageous. I paid more than five times less for probably same or better service. I think I found another local mechanic that may do these things even cheaper. I can't believe dealer charges that much.

Buy the wipers at autozone for $30 and they will install them for free. Replace the cabin filter yourself less than $20 at Walmart and install it yourself takes 10-15 mins. Get the other stuff done by a local mechanic or if you want a dealer to do it take it to the Nissan dealer instead of the Infiniti dealer I think they typically charge 20-30% less

Since I've been on DRIVER we've refereed to Infiniti as the "Stealership" with good reason looking at the prices they want to charge you. You can go to a Nissan dealership and pay 30% less or a qualified independent shop and save a few more $$. There are service items I wouldn't buy any where else but Nissan....drive belts and wiper blades! (Quality Products)

You answered your own question. They can charge what they want being the only infiniti dealer downtown Chicago.

I'm up in Canada, I got my car serviced last month, here's the breakdown. Since I paid cash, no taxes and this includes all labour involved. I can do most myself but I have no time and paying somebody at an affordable rate (In my eyes) is godly.

Done at Simone Performance in New Market

- 2 Wiper Blades replaced: $40
- Oil and filter change: $65
- 2 new Air intake filters: $40
- Tranny Fluid drain and refill including front and rear Diff (I have a G35X) $110
- New brake lines, drain and refill: $155
- PowerSteering Fluid change: $65
- Cabin Filter change $35
- 6 NGK (Forget the model) including replacement: $105
- Coolant flush and refill: $70

Total: $685

And I got so much more done for nearly half the quote they provided you. My suggestion like all others on this topic: Shop around.

1. Any auto parts store will install them for free, $30-40 for the wipers, also really easy to install on your own. Bosch Marathons at Walmart are like $30 a set.
2. Not necessary
3. Do this yourself, https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-diy...id-change.html, a turkey baster makes a fine "fluid transfer pump". Less than $10
4. Do it yourself,
, ~$20
5. You can get test strips to see if the fluid is still good, otherwise you have to change it but this can be done for a lot less at a local garage. Again probably not something that needs to be done ASAP.
6. Mavis Tire/Monroe Muffler will flush the brake fluid for $80, it could probably use a change based on age but not an emergency.

Perform power steering system fluid exchange service (Found power steering fulid excessively dirty)
$179.95

I did it myself and it involves probably about an hour of your time (that's if you're doing it very slowly). It just involves using Turkey Baster and a hose to suck the fluid out and putting an Nissan S-matic ATF fluid and drive it for a hundred meter with turns forcing the steering wheel lock to lock from one side to another....

and then repeat process: draining it, refilling, and test driving until the fluid becomes clear (about 3 or 4 times in my case). You will be amazed about how much you will get ripped off in labor.

I thought you needed to use DEXRON ATF, not Matic S (unless Matic S is dexron approved.) It says so on the cap.

Interesting you said that, because according to the manual stated in page 9-2, in Canada only (not sure why that's the case) Nissan ATF fluid may be used. I just followed what the manual told me a year ago and since I had spare Matic-S from ATF drain and fill for my transmission, why not? Go for the best.... Today I still have absolutely no problems. The steering is still very precise and direct.

A better way to change the fluid is to drain it out, flush with clean fluid, and refill.
