Would the spare tire clear Akebono BBK?

I just installed Akebono BBK on my G35x Sedan. Does anyone know if the spare tire would clear the bbk? just in case i got a flat on the highway. Thanks

^whs, best bet is to get a spare from a g37s (w/bbk) so it fits nicely in the trunk

Only one sure fire way to confirm. Go into your garage and take one of the wheels off then test fit the spare to be sure of the clearance.

I bought a sport spare on the forum since I also did a Akobono retrofit on my 08 X sedan but the spoke pattern on both were the same. Go figure...

Are you referring to a G37 Sport? and was it a coupe or sedan?

If he truly had a g37S with BBK then his spare should have fit fine on your car with BBKs. But i agree that the best way is to buy local and spend 5 mins and test it if possible before buying

^^ Agreed. If it truly did come from a G37S coupe, then it would make zero sense if it didn't fit over the Akebonos.

You need an 18' to clear. Finding that spare wont be easy unless someone is selling

Let me clarify. Both the spare that came from my X sedan and the 37 sport coupe are the same spoke pattern on the spare rim. The reason I had to buy the sport spare is because the sport spare is an 18" spare and my X sedan spare is not.

You will have a tough time finding a sport spare but they are out there.

Ok, I get it. I thought you were saying you bought a G37S spare and IT didn't fit.

Hit your local junkyards, i got mine after finding a shop through http://www.car-part.com -- IIRC, $150 shipped to my door, practically brand new.

Also, correct that both sport and non-sport spares have the same design. One is 17", the other 18" (x4" wide.)

18" spare tire will clear bbk.but not all 18" would fit the sedan trunk.

I was lucky enough to get a 18" locally. But the tire size is T155/80R/18. THEY WILL NOT FIT THE SEDAN TRUNK. (and the guy won't take it back)

i think only the 18" with T145/70R/18 would fit the sedan trunk.

^^ That's an interesting turn of events. I would have thought the trunk tire well would be universal across the various years of the V36 sedan line, and since the overall diameters of stock tire sizes are basically the same regardless of their brakes, it seems this should never be an issue unless someone changed the tire size on their spare to the wrong size. Seems like it would also throw off the VDC as well.
