Tire pressure reset after puttion new wheels on

Just put new rims and tires on my car and they came with new tire pressure sensors. Now my low tire pressure warning is flashing and staying on all the time and i know the tires arent really low. I just put a new intake in car so I disconnected the negative battery terminal to reset the ECU as instructed but the light still persists. Is there any way to reset it?
Thanks, Bill.

Sorry Bill, a reset won't work. You need to program the ID's of each new sensor into the system. RIght now, it's still looking for the old ID's to show up, but since they're gone, it's not happy and hence the light show. You can reset it all day long and the system will continue to look for the old ones. DId you get the new ID's when you bought the new ones? You need to take them to a tirestore or dealer who can code them in for you.

TPMS service is a big scam. I can understand why the feds need to mandate the system in new cars but at least give the consumer some control over it. It is an injustice that you have to go to a tire dealer or other to get these sensors recognized by your car's system--and then get billed for doing so. I'll take my blinking light thank you!

Yeah, it's definitely a pain.
They do make tools so you can perform some of this stuff on your own, but I seem to recall that, short of having the full ride setup that dealers and shops have, you can't put the system into "query" mode so that you can find out the ID's. BUT... If you have the ID's from when you bought them, or last used them ( ex: winter set), then you can punch the numbers in with the cheapy tools and program it yourself.

A few tire stores have the ability to reset your TPS or if Nissan is closer that's where I'd go....Gary

^^WHS

my guess is that a shop will charge you something in the $40 - $60 range, but I could be wrong.

Apologies for the quick response, but go to MyG37 and search for the DIY on this. You can reset/relearn with a paperclip. Worth a shot.

edit: Ah, what the heck, got a couple minutes to spare --- http://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-in...-for-free.html

^^ If that method truly does a relearn for ID's it's never seen before, it is truly awesome! Major kudos for the guy who found it and made that thread!

***I can Confirm that this method works*** I did it on Wednesday on my 2007 G35x. The only advice I will give you is to follow the instructions but on step 4 make sure the engine starts. When I left the car in the Key on Engine off position the process was reset when I started the engine.
