Wondering if anyone else had this happen.
I've replaced 3 so far on my '06x, and pretty sure my pass front one is going bad as well.

I have 150K miles on my car, and got about 75-80K out of each bearing before replacing it.

Common symptoms are the rumbling at speed, as well as a grinding under heavy braking as i creep to a stop. Turning the wheel by hand didn't reveal anything. I had to pull the wheel and rotor off and turn the hub and you could feel them. On all 3 bearings, this was the telltale sign the bearing was bad.

I suspect my 4th bearing is bad, but not sure. WHen i get a chance, i'll pull the rotor and turn the hub

Check your bushings on the lower control arms.

I have. They look fine. I've rebalanced the tires, checked the suspension, looked for source of vibration...can't figure it out. I'm getting 70K miles out of my tires with perfectly even wear, so I don't think it's suspension related.

At this point, replacing a bearing is $99 and 2 hours of my time. Just easier to replace the bearing than spend my time trying to chase down why i go through them so far.

Interesting Mustang. I have 125K and have never replaced a bearing, so far so good. I wonder if climate plays a part in their wear. No snow or salt down here thank goodness.

I've given up trying to figure it out. Just not worth my time anymore. I've even taken the bearings apart to try to do some sort of failure analysis. I always find interior galling where the roller bearings ride.

It's just quicker and easier at this point to spend the $99 for a bearing and swap it out. I've got all the tools and presses and experience and such to do a bearing swap pretty quick and easily. My whole front end is coated in antiseize.

wheel bearings? or tires

Interesting - i thought for sure the noise was another wheel bearing - my mechanic when he first drove it also suspected - turns out, it is the tires. Turns out that the fairly new (12 to 14k miles on them) was the culprit. They are Continental Pure Contact - love the tires but my mechanic said he has seen them wear funny in other cars. So, he balanced and rotated them. He suggested i see if the wear corrects itself.
I Love the Continentals - not sure if anyone else has a similar experience with them.

I have the Extremecontact DWS's and they wear fine. I got 70K miles out of my last set and put a new set on last fall.

I was searching wheel bearing to see if its a common problem and came across this thread. I dropped my car off at my mechanic this morning for yet another wheel bearing. 117K original miles on 3 of the bearings, except for the left rear bearing giving me a lot of grief. This is the 3rd wheel bearing in 30K miles on the same wheel. The 2nd one was warrantied by the shop. They are installing OEM bearings too.

What pisses me off is each time it happens, my car doesn't show any signs or make noises until it gets really bad. My rear caliper all of a sudden started grinding on right turns . I jacked up the rear and could move the wheel around like all the lug nuts were hand tight . I'm damn near lucky the wheel didn't fall off.

Have you checked to see if that wheel is bent or causing any sort of vibration that could be causing the premature failure of that bearing?

The actual hub assembly could be bad.

I am currently having this problem , I'm hearing it in the front , Loud laundry dryer like sound .
thinking it's the front right , but just to be safe I'm going to replace both hub and bearing assembly

I have a 03 g35 sedan with 133k
Replacing with a oem Nissan 350z hub bearing assembly part# 40202-AL56C
They interchange as the whole spindle is the same .
It's cheaper from nissan than infiniti idk why that's just what it is.

I was going for the TIMKEN ones but for the extra $30 I got the oem ones.
