My HR zed has recently started showing low oil pressure on the in car gauge. Had it checked out today in a garage and its reading 10psi on idle, 40 psi at 2000 and 60 psi at around 4000 rpm, car is one 72,000 miles. No faults logged. I seem to be the only owner with a HR zed who has this problem.

Glad I found this thread, will check my OP with the next oil change. Hopefully the OP will be ok, will add some Lukas stop leak for good measure. If OP is low, well With 108K miles of moderate driving with proper maintenance, Elite coverage expiring a year ago I don't know whether I would spend $1200-1500 on gasket repair. All evidence in this thread points to faulty gaskets that scream recall, and the fact that Infiniti refuses to acknowledge it as such despite being aware aware makes me question Infiniti quality and integrity.

No, don't do that. Just no.

Why not? I don't intend to use it if the OP is low, as this would indicate that the gaskets are not sealing and replacing them is the only solution. But wouldn't this help reinforce the gasket seal (at least, for a little while) if OP checks out fine - or did I just buy snake oil?

That stuff is designed to "swell" a synthetic rubber seal to help is stop leaking, the seal in question is paper.

Pretty much.

If it was a forty year old clunker, then sure, it would help the seals, but it has no pace in a modern engine. If you are using any brand of modern oil up that is up to the manufacturer's spec then your engine is receiving all the seal conditioners it needs.

Just tested my OP and the verdict is: 18 psi at idle, 49 psi at 2K rpm. '07 G35x with 109K miles of mostly sedate, occasionally spirited driving and Pennzoil Platinum -> Mobil1 changed at 5K intervals. Get to keep it a while longer

Recently had the P0011 and P0021 Codes repaired at the dealership. It was just over 2 grand for the service. Though it was repaired through warranty, I feel as if it's worth it if you plan on keeping your vehicle for a while.

Interesting! Thanks for posting this. Looks like you got a bunch of expensive parts renewed, under warranty, that may or may not have been truly shot (like primary & secondary timing chains, guides, OP switch, tensioner). Can't complain about that!

I'd be interested in seeing the 2nd page of the work order. Specifically, what was labor charge? How long did they have the car, & how many shop hours did it take? And did you get a look at the failed gallery gaskets - both shot, or just one (which one)? Just curious.

Providing a link to your other thread Damndrew, as there is some discussion there about that invoice.

They changed out the timing chains and guides because I told them about an odd noise and I guess they replaced those parts because they were taking them out to get to the gallery gaskets anyways? I don't have the paperwork on me right now but there wasn't much on the second page. Labor was just under 1400 and 718 for parts. I dropped the car off on Monday and picked it up Thursday morning. A buddy of mine works at that dealership and he told me my car was done early Wednesday but they waited an extra day to call me for some reason. I did not get a look at the gaskets but I do feel like the engine is healthier.

That shouldn't be the case. There's no reason to remove them if you're just changing the individual gallery gaskets instead of replacing the whole rear timing cover. Did you end up having to pay anything toward this repair job?

PS. Did you ever ask them about those cam cover seals that they didn't replace?

That's true, they should've just changed the whole timing cover right? I paid a 100 dollar warranty co pay for the 2000 repair. Still no word on the cam seals. I'm starting to think the independent dealer didn't want to pay for the correct repairs
