Smile Headlight replacement

Replacing my cracked headlight assembly on both right and left sides finally. I can't stand looking at it anymore.

Any feedback on if I should buy OEM again? Afraid if I do they'll just end up cracked again.

Also, are there any good aftermarket assemblies out there worth buying.

The car came from California. We purchased it in 2009 with 21k miles on it. We live in Central Texas. I've no clue honestly why it happened. The car isn't garage kept, but neither is my 2003 mx5 and no headlight cracking issues there.

my guess is youve caught some big rocks from a semi on the highway or something. i drive 290 every day and have had my windshield repaired 3x because of that.

Good read. I myself just shattered my headlights due to rear ending a semi; that was the only damage, thank God. Anyway, I'm looking at carid.com and found a decent price for a non oem headlight. Just under $300 for the driver side assembly. I'm hoping this is a good route, cuz infinitipartsusa.com want just under $900 for the oem headlight assembly.

I found OEM headlights via partsgeek. I know they are from a wrecked vehicle, but I figure I'd check em out for only $276 each. I have 30days to return and they offer a free 1 year warranty. I'll update when they arrive.

If you have a good relationship with your Infiniti dealer, you might want to see if they can do anything. Infiniti has been known to replace things out of warranty that owners really shouldn't be having an issue with. Very true for the 1st gen G anyways.

If you are talking the fine cracks in the headlight, ie. crazing, many had these replaced under warranty. My right headlight had the same issue and was replaced before I painted the inside shrouds.

The stock image photo they used was the exact headlight that is on my 07 which shows the projector. I presume that is exactly what I'll be receiving. Will let ya know as the headlights come in Thursday!

We asked them about the headlights when it first started to happen, alas they would not replace them. The dealership has been good to us though as they replaced the plastic inserts on the door where the handle is that one uses to pull the door shut as well as the same looking plastic on the steering wheel because the paint was peeling. No charge to us.
