Turning off traction control
Turning off traction control
Ok, I've searched on how to complete turn the traction control on my 07 Sedan type-s
most say to disconnect or run a switch to the orange wire on the yaw control box. My car has that box but no orange wire. I've disconnected it, and my VDC and Slip lights come one but the car will still bog down if I try to launch it hard or do a burnout. Im sure the yaw box is different in earlier years. Has anyone done this successfully to the V36?

is it an auto or 6mt? I agree with amgvr4, should be as simple as push the vdc off, unless you also want the abs off as well. when i turn off my vdc my car was real easy to blur the tires and get some sideways action.
Not sure if being an Auto vs Manual has something to do with it
Pushing the VDC button does NOT completely disable everything. It has been stated numerous times. It reduces it, some seem to think by 50% or something like that. I cannot do a burnout with it off. I will spin the tire for a bit before the computer kicks in and puts an end to the fun. The only way the I have heard is to install a switch to turn the yaw control off but this only seem to have worked with the first gen G and Z. I have an 07 type S auto and I know for a fact that somehow my traction control remains active.

But I have an 07 g35s 6mt, so maybe the manual vs AT doest make a difference?

Doubt it, because I can do the same with the VDC off and mine is auto.
There is something wrong with your car if pushing the button does not turn off the vdc all the way. Does not matter if it is auto or stick. The only thing I can think of is having snow mode on might cause some traction control like symptoms. Make sure it is off as well.
I have a '08 6MT, if I keep the VDC "on" on the track, the system will cut power on some circumstances. If I turn the VDC off with the press of the button, the system won't cut power any more under the same circumstances, and you will spun your car ... don't ask me how I find out.
And I feel that when the system is off, it means "off" and I feel no assistance or what so ever.

As far as i am aware all of the years are the same as far as VDC is concerned? Maybe there is a fault with yours also? or your tires are just too damn sticky?
Wow I can't believe I'm getting all these replies. Knowing fully well that this is not the case on my car and many here, since I've read thread after thread. For example I've taken my car to the track, switched off the VDC and yes I can spin a little but as soon as it detects wheel spin the spin light comes on and my throttle gets cut by the ECU so it makes it hard to come out of the turns fast.

There is a reason why many have installed a switch to turn off the yaw sensor.. Many threads about this as well. Last time when I tried to do a burnout ( with yaw sensor disconnected ) I stepped on the brake and the gas, I got the tires to spin for 2 second before the ECU said nope.. I'm surprised to hear some guys saying that this is as simple as pushing the VCD button, because is not to or others with the same issue.

I think I just found my answer....
"something to keep in mind for those of you who are doing this to do burnouts, whenever the brake lights are on, the ECU closes the throttle to about 30%. You need to disconnect the brake light switch to do a major burnout while on the brakes."

So for most of us, pushing the VDC button is sufficient for when we want to have a bit of "fun". You are driving to the extremes to the extent most of us will never do, nor do we have a reason to.
