Hi! I am a relatively new owner of a 07 G35S sedan. I picked it up a couple months ago and am now approaching 60k miles. My last car quite literally died at 211k miles and while I searched for a good, relatively newer BMW, I came across this pearl for far less than I was budgeting for a "new" car.

I have owned 3 BMWs including a track prepped 97 M3 (did the build myself) and am a member of the BMWCCA. I do almost all maintenance and repair work(if you ask my wife she's tired of me wrenching all the time haha) on our vehicles as well. I love all vehicles and this gives me a good mix of sport, reliability, and functionality because we have 2 kids as well.

Like I said, we are coming up on 60k miles and I plan to do the cabin air filter, intake filters, AT fluid, transfer case fluid, oil/filter change, and rear diff change. The car has only had two owners and according to carfax they did take it in for service, but I just want to be sure its starting off fresh and is what the service interval calls for.

I look forward to using this site and have already gotten a lot of info off it. One question though. My car came with an 08 user manual, but is an 07. I know there aren't many differences between the two, but my VIN (from what I can tell) has an 08 designator in it. Is this normal? Or because of its build date? VIN: JNKBV61E77M724163

I was holding my 1 year old while taking the shot, please don't hate on my messy garage. I blame the kids hahaha

It is an auto. My wife was pretty adamant about that. Besides the cup holders the auto shifting is my only gripe.

I am in MD too. I have an auto as well, not bad. I have about 120k on mine. I need to do a full fluid change on it.

Welcome to the dark side! I was shopping BMWs when I realized that a stripped 3 series was as expensive as a loaded G35S and haven't looked back. You should get a printout of the dealer service actually performed, that way you won't be draining brand-new fluid and saying "ruh-roh!!".
Better yet, sign up for your local dealer's e-mails, get a $20 off coupon for an oil change, and for less than $40 you can have everying inspected, sip espresso for awhile and walk away with a detailed history and roadmap for your own maintenance plan. That's what I just did at 90k.

Leave the German cars to the people who like / afford to fix them every month. I got better things to spend my time and money on.

Yeah I thought about calling the dealer but didn't know how readily they would give out info on cars.

I still love BMWs but right now I'm having a great time in this car. Thanks, I look forward to learning more and hopefully contributing later on!

Looks like a nice car. I also recently picked up an '07 S, and hated the cup holders. I don't know if yours has it already, but there is an insert with a little spring-loaded flap/divider that a lot of cars seem to be missing. I found one on eBay (along with the center console trim...), and it made a nice improvement.

As far as your VIN is concerned, it comes up as an '07 for me. Weird about the manual, but maybe a P/O lost the original one.

That's awesome! Something I need to definitely get. I talked to a dealer and eventhough my car has had routine maintenance the diff, transmission, and transfer case have never been changed so I will be doing the entire 60k mile service interval.
