Is it worth buying a single owner 2008 G37x?
Hi,
I am knew to G35driver and apologies for any formatting issues.
I was searching for a G35/G37 and have a 2008 G5x, single owner, 125k miles, for under $7000.
I have been reading quite a few forums and threads and watched a few videos on both, the greatness of the car, and the issues a few owners have been submerged.
What are the kind of things to look for in a G35 before buying, and what are the immediate items/equipment that needs replacing?
Is it worth buying a 10 year old G35 AWD?
Thanks in advance for all your advice/help!

The only potential engine problems is blown cam actuator seals, it would be throwing an engine code though, get it scanned for any hidden codes.
As for the age, same thing as every other 10 year old car, suspension bushings are shot, struts/shocks are probably shot, drivetrain bushings are probably shot. If you don't want to replace all that stuff then buy a new car, if you know how to turn your own wrenches and don't mind replacing every bushing on the vehicle then buy it. Every 10 year old vehicle is the same, every rubber bushing is shot but most people don't care sooo...

Will the error codes in the engine be checked and detected in the PPI?
I drove the car and it seemed pretty solid, but I heard a squealing nose under the hood. When asked, the owner told me that it was a natural noise that came from the car from day 1! (how could that be possible?)
And now he says that he is a little uncomfortable to lend the car for a PPI, and wish not to go through with all the hassle. Should I just scrap the deal, or you think it is still worth a shot to persuade him for a PPI and get the car?
Going this extra mile just because it is a G35!

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
A couple of things seem shady to me. First of all none of these cars had a persistent squealing from day 1, that's a load of horsecrap. Second if he doesn't want to go through "the hassle" of accommodating your request it's time to write this one off, csw's correct, the dude's hiding something. Walk away and keep looking, there are a ton of great vehicles out there waiting for you. Best advice I can give you is don't rush into any decisions, take your time and trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right it probably isn't.

Thanks for all your advice, I have decided this car is definitely not worth pursuing.

I also agree. If you think it shouldn't be making that nosen, then your probably right. I would always spend a little money to have a shop do a full inspection of a car. I bought a 07 g35x from a dealer once, thought I could trust them, only to find out they cleared the cel for bad o2 sensors. Took 3 driving cycles till the cel came back on.
