Idling problem

I have a 2007 g35s sedan 6MT which wasn’t driven for about a month. After driving it again, the car idled higher around 1100 RPM’s and when the RPM’s would be dropping they would stop at 1500 for a few seconds then go back down to the 1100 RPM idle. After a few days P0507 CES light came on which is “Idle speed control system RPM higher than expected. To fix this I looked for any air leaks, which I didn’t find any. Then, I disconnected the battery and cleaned the throttle body, and MAF sensors. After putting everything back together and starting the car the RPM’s are now constantly jumping between 1600 and 2200. I’ve tried to do the idle relearn process which didn’t change anything. I have videos of the odometer and the RPM’s to show what is happening, so if anyone knows if I can post videos onto this page let me know how to do that. If anyone experienced something like this please let me know what to do to fix this problem since I can’t really drive the car if the RPM’s are constantly fluctuating between 1600-2200.

Vacuum leak?

Pretty easy to find the answer.
Pay the diagnostic fee at the nearest dealer.
With a almost twelve year old vehicle parts begin to wear out. Especially rubber ones.
Letting a vehicle just sit for a month is not good either.
Was it garaged or just sitting outside?

+1 on the diag fee. If you've already done all the obvious tune-up stuff like checking for leaks, cleaning TB/MAF/Filter, and your spark plugs are new, and you have no trouble codes, you've done all you can without getting in over your head and it'll be faster for someone who knows exactly what they're looking for to troubleshoot for you.

You could try going through the troubleshooting steps for that code in the FSM as well, but this seem slike something they'll be able to figure out much easier than you because of their computer equipment, etc.

Thanks for reply guys. The car was sitting outside but I’d start it and let it run for a few minutes about every week. I have a feeling that I’m not doing the idle relearn properly; since, timing is crucial. If I can’t figure it out, I guess I’ll save myself the headache and take it to the dealer.

-1 on throwing away $120 bucks to have the dealer do a diagnosis.

07's are NOTORIOUS for developing high/surging idle after cleaning TBs. You need them to do an ECM update/reflash and then complete a re-learn.

Did something similar happen to your car since it needed the ECM reflash and relearn? Do you remember how much you paid them to do that?

I don’t know what the original problem was, but now that you cleaned the TBs, you have to be successful with the procedures in the FSM or have the dealer do a CONSULT relearn or reflash. That can take up to 3 hours, get an early appointment and clear your schedule.

Yes it just happened to me a couple weeks ago. After calling around to all the dealers in my area I finally found one that knew exactly what was going on and how to fix it as they had several customers come in with the same issue. I paid 1.0 hours although it only took them 15-20mins to complete the job. ECM reflash and then a relearn.

Issue completely resolved.

I went through this recently. The trick for me was to do the "pedal dance" relearn process, drive the car, do the dance - repeat - several times in succession i.e. dance-drive-dance (even after the SES light stayed off) until the idle went down to normal level. Takes time, but it worked for me, with no dealer intervention.

Finally got the problem fixed. Tried everything to avoid going to the dealer but that’s what the car needed. Took the car to a Nissan dealer, since the prices are a little cheaper than Infiniti. They did the ECM reflash and idle relearn and now the car is idling at 650. Took them 3 hours to do it because they said the car has to cool down. The car wasn’t taking the ECM reflash or the idle relearn while it was warm. Cost me $283 with tax and no more headache. I appreciate everyone who replied, thank you guys.

Good you got it fixed, but i dont think they should charge you the standard hourly rate just waiting for the car to cool.

Especially since they can't even do the reset through Consult-III if the engine and transmission aren't up to temperature, they literally get an error telling them to warm up the engine or transmission.
