Hood Damper

For several years now, the shock/dampers that hold up my hood have gone out. Embarrassingly, I use a golf club to prop-up my hood nowadays. It looks like the standard nissan/infiniti part costs about $150.00, which I'm not willing to spend. The 9 iron is embarrassing but not $150 embarrassing. I went on amazon and found that there are several generic options and I picked one that cost around $20.00 Needless to say it was garbage, didn't hold the hood, and I sent it back. Before I go back out there and try my luck at another brand, has anyone else had any success in this area?

Thanks,
Matt

The reviews are good and 2 of them said they installed it on a 2007/2008 G35 sedan. So Im guessing it should work for u.

It's ultimately just a gas charged cylinder. They are all the same.

$20 does sound like a cheapo version. There's a reputable brand of aftermarket struts out there.... Hold on.... I think it's "Strong Arm". Found them and a couple add'l choices here: https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/ye...SEDAN%204-DOOR

Sachs is a well-known brand for these type of struts. They are OEM for some vehicle brands, if I'm not mistaken.

Strong Arm is a very reputable brand and a great value. I have them on a couple of cars and they work great and have held up over time.

The Strong Arms would have been 1/3 cheaper lol.

Probably worth mentioning it was for a V35 so it came with brackets/hardware as well.

Ebay is not a brand. You can find both the good and bad on there.

Clearly I know what you said since I replied to your post. Just because you bought something off of EBAY doesn't mean anything since there are OEM quality parts on there just like there is garbage. Actually specifying what brand you purchased rather than just saying Ebay would be a much better thing to post.
