Is the G35 the Japanese BMW M3
I just got done reading a car and driver review where they did one of those five way shoot outs between the car manufacturers. It was really impressive to see where the Infiniti landed in the standings. I believe the test was between the C class for Mercedes, the RC for Lexus, and BMW fielded their legendary 3 series sedan. It was nice to see some credit given to the Infiniti where credit is due. I would love to see another review done with these cars except maybe with the Lexus RCF and the AMG C63 for comparison.
There's probably a comparison somewhere of those two vehicles against the Q60 Red Sport.
From my experience RIDING in the AMG, driving the Q60RS and Lexus (wife's cousins husband has the AMG and I've ridden in it quite a bit, brother had the Lexus for a weekend and I spent about 4 hours in it, Q60RS test drove for a friend before he purchased) here's my thoughts.
All 3 are ridiculously heavy on the road, the AMG had by far the superior suspension though, it absolutely felt like a luxury sports car and I'd pick it out of the three, granted this was the BLACK EDITION so that's what you would expect from a car that sold for like $115k, I'm sure the regular C63 would be a much more fair comparison.
The Lexus had the best interior imo, it was super comfortable, if you were to judge the vehicle only from the interior you would think you were in a luxury car not a sport car. It was really easy to drive but the suspension was too soft for a sport car, my brother called it "The Cadillac of Toyotas", it was also a very QUIET vehicle inside the cabin. It was also REALLY fast from a stoplight, felt faster than the Q60RS.
The Q60RS was a blast, still has a sporty feel, it's fairly LOUD however which my friend has complained about on highway trips, he said it's cabin noise is more comparable to my G35 coupe than his former G37. I wasn't in the car long enough to notice that, shifting was pretty good and the power level felt fantastic. However I did NOT like the suspension and it didn't corner well at all, not sure why but my G holds a corner almost infinitely better than his Q60RS and I'm on stock 19s with bilstein shocks, the 350Z revised springs and stock sway bars. Fortunately that should be pretty easy to fix with some suspension bolt-ons.
Overall I think they're fairly stacked considering the price, the Q60RS being the cheapest of the lot it's fair that it's a touch slower and doesn't corner as hard, Toyota being middle of the pack with the better interior and slightly quicker, AMG at the top because it's insanely expensive and you better get a damned near perfect car for that money.

agreed
I feel like I would def have to agree with you on that one. It seems more unique somehow. Probably because it's less popular and less "basic."
A g35 is not the Japanese M3. To be so, it would have to compete in factory form. And, in factory form it didnt compare.
Now, is the g35 engaging and fun to drive? Absolutely. Is it more reliable than an M3? I believe so.
It is prettier than an M3 for sure.
I can shed some light on the Q as I have a Q50RS AWD and I have a G35 coupe
Both are modified...the G35 more than the Q50.
Both have coilovers, adjustable control arms, wider wheels and tires, rear LSD (yes even my AWD), and the G has upgraded anti sway bars.
On the same brand of tires, my Q will outhandle my G.
In factory form, they were very close.
Which car do I drive for fun? You shouldnt have to ask that question from an enthusiast.
