Hey guys I am relatively new to the car scene so please don't be super harsh if I mess anything up. I have been looking for a little bit for a good affordable turbo kit (preferably single turbo), but all the kits I have seen usually range from a 03-07 version of the g35. I have invested a bit of research into the turbonetics kit, but that is also for the 07 not the 08. Does the year not make that much of a difference? If anybody knows any good affordable turbo kits, could you kindly link me them? Thanks!

 

I have done a little more research as to what engine I have. Apparently I have a VQ35HR and not a VQ35DE. If anyone knows any turbo kits under 4k-5k for the VQ35HR please link them, or reply with any advice for forced induction. This car is my daily and I want power, but don't want to stay NA. For HP gain NA I have seen it cost a lot, but I didn't put too much research into it.

 

the vq35hr is very similar to the new vq37vhr regards to te layout of the throttle bodies and exhaust flanges. For turbo kits, sadly most are in the $7k-8k range. going supecharger is slightly cheaper. Topguns has a kit for slightly under $7k. for single turbo, you can look into the Boosted Performance mid mount kit, SOHO single turbo kit, or even Switchback Racing. Also remember, with more power, mean more fuel, and that means at a certain point you need to convert the stock returnless system to a return type. All that fuel support mods can easily add up to $2k.

 

Damn, would you recommend I try to sell my car or even find someone who would trade for like a 2007 g35 coupe or something? I really just want a car that can be worked on and gain horsepower. Thanks for your help though, really appreciate it!

 

its hard to say, there is a person on facebook selling a kit that uses the R35 GTR turbos with an adapter place to bolt to the HR/VHR motor. he is selling it for $4900 shipped. I believe he made mid 400 hp to the wheels.

 

Damn thats pretty good, although isn't the VQ35HR and the DE only good for 400hp stock. I would need to upgrade the fuel system as well as someone a while back saying ported cylinder heads, larger cams, etc. I mean I work a minimum wage job so I can see my build going upwards of 10k. My car already has 127,000 miles, I'm not sure if working on it would be the best option. Very hard to say especially from someone like me with not a lot of experience and knowledge only so far as I've researched.

I haven't decided what to do yet. I recently tune at DB stock everything except the GTR turbo kit and make 300hp. Next is exhaust and install my big injectors and shoot for more HP. I don't think this auto transmission will held up, but going to try to it.

 

You running the GTR intercooler also? I think the last GTR kit that i was for sale on Facebook was somewhere in the $4,800 for everything. I don't think it sold yet.
