Im curious if anyone else has thought of, attempted or completed a 7 speed swap to a v36 g35 at all. Any input will help

I think that would be a lot of time/effort/money to make it work. Not to mention making it work the the transfer case/awd...
To my understanding, the 5AT is quite a bit more durable unit than the 7AT.
FWIW, the newer 7AT's that they use with the VR30 (2016+ Q50/Q60) are better than the older 7AT's from what I hear/read.

I would stick with the RE5 5 speed if going for more HP. 7 speed isn't very good unless you are staying stock and wanting better MPG. There isn't a ECU that had a VQ35HR and 7 speed so you may think about just biting the bullet and swap to a full G37 drivetrain to make it a lot easier.

Actually you're wrong, the VQ35HR has been paired with the 7 speed on the F35, M35 etc... so in theory it is possible Originally Posted by scumbagsleeper
