Whoops I tore the boot…
2007 G35x 130k miles. I just got done doing the Big three brake upgrade (d/s rotors, Hawk Pads, SS Lines) and a complete front end rebuild(upper/ lower control arms, struts, poly sway bar bushings, greaseable swaybar end links, grease able outer tierods.) and obviously I need an alignment, but man this car feels like a million bucks right now. Anyway, in the process of doing the LCA, I broke the Passanger CV Boot. Mind you about 6 months ago I replaced the CV’s with OE parts($$$) Now it clicks when driving(not just turning)…. I know the CV was fine before I ripped the boot and I’ve only driven maybe 8 miles on clean/not dusty roads. Anyway. I’m sure I’ve lost a ton of grease, so what kind of grease do I use on the CV? When I pulled it out of the diff it seems more like really thick oil, not grease. Is there a specific type I need to use when I put the new boot on?
On a *probably* related note, occasionally(50% of the time) the slip light on the dash flashes on WOT Shifts…. The car shifts fine, better than most 5AT’s and again, it wasn’t doing this before all this work(this happened for the first time when I did the driver side, I don’t think it has anything to do with The ripped boot.) so you think I need to go push the axel in more? Or is the car just relearning after the axel being out? Pretty competent mechanic, and I got quite the Infiniti collection (full bolt on tuned 07 m35, full bolt on lowered 03 g35) but man the 07+ AWD Front ends are a complete
PITA to rebuild….

If it's clicking your axle is likely already shot, doesn't take long without grease for the metal on metal contact to overheat and destroy the joint. 10 miles or less to kill the CV joint isn't uncommon. Once it starts clicking it's because there is now play in the joint due to wear.
You can try rebooting it with some Redline CV2 grease or any NLGI 2 grease. Nissan does offer the replacement CV axle boot repair kit though with the boot, grease, and both clamps for like $100 so you might just swing by your local Nissan/Infiniti and get one from them. It should be an in-stock item still. I don't expect grease and rebooting the axle will fix your problem though.
As for the slip light, are you sure it's not related to wheel spin? The axle wouldn't cause that light to turn on, double check your brake fluid level to make sure it's topped off as well.

Yes I’m sure it’s not wheel spin because it’s on cup2’s rn that car couldn’t spin them even if I wanted to, plus it’s only on up shifts. My brake fluid is at the max full of Motul DOT 5.1 so it’s not that either(the car doesn’t flip out like my 03 did when it was low either.) Slip light flashes like it it’s like if it was slipping. Doesn’t stay on and the VDC light doesn't come on either. I’m seriously thinking I didn’t fully put the front axel in all the way, gonna do a trans and diff(s) flush just for peace of mind though. But again it shifts like butter
