As far as I'm aware the VQ35HR and VQ37VHR cats/test pipes are cross-compatible.

Just call Z1 and ask them, they pick up the phone and will answer questions. It's probably just the way they market it on their website and those same pipes probably ALSO have a listing specifically for the HR engine even though it's the same item.

Hey guys so I just bought an 08 g35 sedan with the vq35hr and I’m shopping around for test pipes but I see more vq35de pipes. I’ve been hunting for the answer to my next question, Are the de and hr exhaust interchangeable?

Thank you, I just ordered test pipes for my hr specifically but the item description was all over the place, so fingers crossed.

Shopping for 2008 G35 sedan aftermarket stuff has been tricky, to say the least. It seems it has more in common with the G37 than even the 2007 G35. For example, the Whiteline end links I ordered, which are marketed for '08 G35, did not fit. I needed the G37 links. Z1 says they encounter this problem all too often on '08 models.

Call and speak with a live person when ordering stuff. Do not rely on website information as it pertains to specific applications.

It's always a problem on the 2007-2008, most times when things are marketed for the G35 it's actually for the V35 chassis which was used 2003-2007 coupe and 2003-2006 sedan. The 2007+ G35 sedan was the V36 chassis same as the 2008+ G37 coupe and 2009+ G37 sedan...

Make sure that parts you get are for a VQ35HR equipped V36 chassis, that's what you have.

I placed an order with FI for their catback with resonators and resonated HFC, both utilizing 2.5" tubing with the standard 16 week lead time. Good things come for those who wait I'm hoping. A tune is highly recommended when replacing stock cats, just FYI.

so I had ordered the test pipes and sure as s*** they were wrong. I called z1 and the guy was kind enough to confirm what youve all been saying(I read the reply’s late mind you) that the vq35hr and vq37hr exhaust are interchangeable. So I got the right resonated pipes coming now. Thank you guys.
