Hi there -
So my car has 150k miles on it and lately i started to hear a slight pop or clunking noise coming from the front suspension when turning slowly into my driveway or coming to a stop with uneven roads. Wanted to see if any of you fellas had this problem before so i can get a better idea what to expect before bringing it to a shop and have it inspected. Bushings, control arms, ball joints? What are the common failure on our cars that will cause the noise?
This may not be the exact diagram, but you posted in the V36 HR G35 sedan section. But get the wheel off the ground and see if you can repeat the pop sound by shaking the wheel. Could be coming from one of the many bushings, ball joints, wheel bearings, sway bar end links, etc. just depends on what’s loose / worn out.
could also take wheel off and lightly use a pry bar around the suspension arms to see if you get any odd movement.
In my very recent experience, popping came from the front lower ball joints. Being low wears them out faster too.
