Hey everyone, I have a 2008 G35x with about 173000KM on it.
Ever since I bought the car around 20000 KM ago it’s been jerking in traffic, I was hoping it would smooth out over time but it still hasn’t.
My main complaint is that whenever I let off of the gas at around 30km/h - 40km/h it feels like I just pressed down on the brake and my whole car slows down, if I let it do it’s thing the deceleration stops after around 3 seconds and it goes into the proper gear. If I hit the gas pedal before letting it go into the proper gear I will feel a weird jerking motion, it’s not like a banging sensation but just a rather sudden jerk in the drive train. I then get immediate acceleration and everything goes back to normal.
When driving in heavy traffic it can feel really jerky due to this issue and it is rather annoying to say the least.
When driving fast it shifts beautifully with no issues whatsoever, shifts are quick and smooth. The transmission always shifts very firm besides when driving in traffic with the issue mentioned above.
I changed my transmission fluid around 15000 km ago. In hopes that this would fix the issue.
Anyways I’m just wondering if this happens to anyone else because it’s seriously driving me crazy and I’ve done numerous ECU resets to try and fix the issue with no luck. If anyone can shed some light on my issue it would be much appreciated. I love this car but due to this issue it’s making me want to sell it.

Based on the symptoms I would go to a reputable transmission shop to get it checked. The only thing I would try is to manual shift at low speeds to see if it's any smoother. Sounds like it could be a bad synchro.Originally Posted by Davydog

I'm guessing by "heavy traffic" you mean "stop-and-go" traffic where you constantly get a stutter from a dead stop... check out this thread. I have been chasing a similar issue that may be related. check my video in one of the recent replies. Does it jerk from a stop like mine in the video? like its getting a bad Air/Fuel ratio? like the RPMs dip slightly and quickly but immediately follows thru after? do you find yourself hitting the throttle hard off a stop so it isnt as bad? I think we share some similar issues. I get the same feeling of stopping force on the drivetrain when I let off the gas and it feels like its bogging the engine down with it. Apparently vacuum leaks can cause weird symptoms like this but I still havent had a chance to check mine for leaks.

Yes, I do feel like my engine “bogs” down and the rpm’s do dip rather quickly! Thanks for the info, I’ll try to search for vacuum leaks when I do my oil change here. This issue is just so damn annoying. Originally Posted by Loki24

Engine hesitation/bog when you hit the throttle is usually a vacuum leak.

Yep, I got the same issue. No idea what it is. Can't locate any vaccum leaks, tried smoke test.

I had a similar issue, but it was resolved.
Few things that helped :
Pedal dance.
New intake filters.
Higher octane gas + long ( hours and hours ) road trips.

Hey sorry for the late response, but what octane are you using? I currently use 91.Originally Posted by 909

What pedal dance steps did you do? I’ve tried many times and never seems to fix it

I occasionally check back on this thread to see what responses may have popped up and I decided to search again on my own.

Follow this guy answering the questions in this thread. He describes the oil gallery gasket that often goes bad causing oil pressure issues. I had your same issue of course and I found paper gasket bits in my oil pan one day which indicates the gallery gasket was probably bad. I had plans to get my oil pressure checked after but got totalled before I got that far. I still often wonder how to fix this problem. Folks try to replace sensors and magnetic retarder parts but no good.
TLDR...
check oil pressure and look for paper gasket bits in the oil pan. (can be done at home if you have the tools but a shop would probably give you better readings)
I hope this helps....

If you are having this problem it is not normal.. hers is a TSB # ITB11-018
Our cars have electronic throttle bodies, that are controlled by its ecm. When you press on the pedal its signals ecm in return ecm signals throttle bodies. Long story short your ecm needs to be reprogrammed not flashed or reset..The TSB explains it all and which models it happens to and the step by step reprogramming process that is done on consult -111 that Nissan uses
Please keep updated if anyone’s tries you must go to the dealer for this fix or know a mechanic that’s has consult-111 program and computer hardware to be properly done
Below are links to TSB and steps
