What is the correct outer tie rod part numbers for the '07 AWD?

Hi guys, I'm finding that the local parts shops are listing the wrong OUTER tie rod ends for my car. The ones they come up with are too short, and only slightly resemble the original ones. I suspect their catalogs are noting the ones for the non-AWD, or maybe the coupe. It sure isn't MOOG part number es800337 for example. I need the correct part numbers for the AWD sedan for 2007.
Any leads of what will really fit so I can begin locating one?

Thanks, Tom

For the OUTER tie rod end RWD or AWD didn't matter, what matters is the correct chassis generation V35 or V36. Your 2007 sedan is the V36.

It's definitely possible that they have the wrong tie rod end in that box though.

Now the INNER tie rod ends are different, I don't know how different, but here's those part numbers.

V36 Sedan AWD EV800608
V36 Sedan RWD EV800607

Visually the RWD inner tie rod end appears to be slightly longer.

V35 Sedan/Coupe RWD and AWD all used inner tie rod end EV80279 which was substantially longer than the V36 chassis.

Just to verify, you do have the HR engine with the twin intake tubes yes? Just want to make sure you actually have a V36 and not a V35. Sometimes vehicles will get registered with the state as being a year newer if they sit on the dealership lot until the next year.

Thank you Cleric, this is very helpful. Yes, I do have the HR engine. Last night I removed a tie rod and will carry it with me today to different parts stores in case they don't have the MOOG ES part numbers you provided but might have something that is a match under a different manufacturer.

I'm wondering if a previous owner put the V35 inner/outer rods onto your car. Like maybe someone had ordered the wrong steering rack, installed it, and then used the V35 outer rods because at that point the V36 ones wouldn't fit anymore?

Or ordered the wrong inner/outer rod ends, they all have same thread pattern so they would fit.

I'm fairly sure the overall length between the V35 rack/inner/outer is exactly the same as the V36 rack inner/outer. Any extra difference could be made up at the outer tie rod end during alignment. So they would probably TECHNICALLY be interchangeable with the exception of the V35 rack not having the variable geometry rack and pinion (there's an electrical harness at the steering shaft on the V36). The car would never even know if that variable geometry rack harness was unplugged I think.

You should definitely look at your R&P and see if you do or don't have the variable geometry one. That might be the missing part of the puzzle.

Hi Cleric, I went to a different auto parts store in a different town and gave them the ES800337 part number and they brought one that was correct. This one has a grease nipple which is handy. I installed it and am back on the road. Thanks again.

Hopefully you’ll respond to this as it’s been 2 years. I’ve been looking all over trying to figure out the exact sizes and part no for the inner and outters. I got a remanufactured rack and pinion installed that came with inner tie rods, with a set of outers that were the correct part no match. My issue is that my tie rods on either side are equally maxed out to give me correct alignment but I won’t be able to re align my car and obviously something is the wrong length if being at the correct alignment maxes out the threads. Do you know how much different the length is from the v35 to v36 inners. Because I’m thinking the remanufactured rack could’ve gotten v35 inners thrown on it by the company by mistake and it’s setting off my whole alignment. But it couldn’t also be the outters although you said th outters are interchangeable for v35 and v36 so I’d doubt that.
