unplugged ecu and bcm now key symbol and no crank
unplugged ecu and bcm now key symbol and no crank
2008 g35 journey.
I unplugged the ecu and the white plug that is part of the harness to pull the harness into the engine bay to look for breaks and check continuity.
battery disconnected the whole time.
I didn't find any breaks and verified continuity to the injectors and coil and plugged everything back in.
I get the key symbol now on the dash, and it doesn't try to crank.
I can see the radiator fans spin up, after a few seconds. not sure why.
it ran before doing this just with a miss.
is there some trick to getting this to work or something I unplugged on accident that might cause this and I didn't see it?
I just pulled it all up from the hole near the battery.

Is the key solid red or flashing red? If solid, then the BCM doesn't like the ECM and needs key programming (xTool D7, Thinkscan 689BT, Consult 3+) or a local locksmith. If flashing red key then the BCM found a issue within it's 'secure' network like start button, blown fuse, key fob battery bad or key fob bad, key fob antenna issue. Do you have a scan tool to scan for codes?
I bought NDS2 for data logging but it didn't help me in my issues, Consult3+ did which is free. All you need is VXDiag VCX SE for Nissan $200 adapter and a laptop.
Didn't you say before that you've sent the ECM somewhere to be checked?
Yellow means the key fob needs to be reprogrammed or the steering lock has a fault. Hard to diagnose without fault codes..

yes I did send it to g7 and they said they did a software fix, but it didn't solve my issue. and it worked fine after that, even unplugging the computer 2 or 3 times per their suggestion., with the battery disconnected as well for a couple of hours.
the only thing new is that white plug being pulled, but not sure why that matters.
would the steering lock stop it from cranking?

Here, read my posts in this thread: Guide for Reprogramming Updates to your ECU
I start in post #4 and get the Yellow key in post #6.
Anytime you unplug NATS modules, you'll get bunch of codes stored and they need to be cleared first before anything can be pointed at as faulty.

thanks. will read it through. hopefully it is a simple lost the key programming and I can get it running later today.

have another thread on the nds software, but it allowed me to look into the bcm and both keys show registered.
I found a video on the steering lock and mine isn't acting the same.
if the bcm shows both keys, does that mean they are still good?

cant get the ecm to connect.

B260F means:
-Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
-Engine Control Module (ECM) harness is open or shorted
-Engine Control Module (ECM) circuit poor electrical connection.
Check all wiring going to the ECM, check the plug, pins, buy Electrical Contact cleaner and spray them out clean, shine light to those pins and look for green corrosion if any. If NDS3 can't connect to the ECM, that can only mean the ECM is not getting power.

ecm is getting power but must be dead now.
regular scan tool doesn't pick up anything from it, but doesn't show no communication.
apparently that is 2 different messages from what I can see.
I checked the pins and they all looked good. I wanted to verify if we pulled any on accident while pulling the harness apart to check for breaks in the line.
was pretty sure it had an issue already, so going to order another one now. not sure I want to roll the dice on fixing it.

If you read my posts about this, you would see that i did try a 08 ECM in my 07 but that didn't resolve my issues about the aggressive throttle pedal. I turned out to be only aggressive when AC is on for some reason.. I used Consult 3+, VXDiag Nissan plug and a basic laptop to reprogram the 08 ECM to my 07 by rewriting the VIN#. The 08 ECM was from a car without radar cruise control so that did no work with mine as i have that option so make sure to find EXACTLY the same replacement with same options or they won't work. You'll need to use Consult 3+ to do that swap unless you have access to a $1000+ scan tool that programs control modules.. I wouldn't play around with anything cheaper as those are known to brick modules..
thanks. I ordered one off ebay that says they code for my vin. it won't ship for a week or so. hopefully I won't need to do anything. their feedback is pretty good.
the bcm still showed both keys, so it must have been just the ecu causing the no start issue.
