Well, I have to agree, the original was pretty groundbreaking, I remember the first G35 I saw, had to research to find out what this car was. I'm keeping my '05, but I do like what I see. I'm betting if Infiniti hadn't come out with the G35, neither the IS or the 330i would have evolved as they have. This should get interesting!

I think that those that were let down are those that felt the first Gen 35 was ground breaking which it was... With that being said since the first gen has been out for about 4 years the affect of your G has not worn off in about 3 more years you will change your tune the first gen is still pretty current and still able to handle it's own. I have decided that I love the 2nd Gen G35 don't get me wrong I have no problems sticking with my 2005 but I think the 2007 just fixed the flaws of the 2005 update. It's evolutionary and once the coupe comes out the styling of the sedan will make more sense. Matter of fact I already have a buyer for my 2005 so stay tuned for pictures of my 2007 this Novemember/December.

When i first saw the 2003 G35 sedan on the billboards in 2002, I was like EWWW i would never drive this car. But then it grew on me and here i am driving ONE ! That will probably happen with this generation Sedan as well. But im keeping my car FOREVER.! I still enjoy driving this thing every single moment and still get excuses to drive some more.

I think base - it was auto with no paddle shifters, and we know that the sport auto has paddles, and of course the 6MT has a clutch. I don't think it was AWD (badging), so it's base or journey (whatever journey means).

I think Journey stands for the tech package as it does for the M45 (It's like an $8K package!)... I like the 07 G35.. it's nice. That being said, I love my '05x more and after driving a BMW (have yet to try Audi but I love their style), I'm going to get rid of my G in a year or so and get one of the German/Euro cars. I'm not disappointed in the new evolution but the German cars are just... different. You have to drive one to understand.. driving the G is like driving a car which is GREAT! But when you drive a BMW, it's like an experience. That's what I want in my next car. The G35's a quality vehicle and it'll definitely fill out it's niche for a LONG time to come. Also, BMW has one up on Infiniti because the BMW dealer is 20 mins from my house while the nearest Infiniti dealership is over an hour!

very true, the G caused a stir and made other car companies scrambling to up their offerings

The key thing I don't like is that it looks like Infiniti is trying to make the G look like the IS. Although I agree Infiniti needed to do something to keep the competition going and ahead, I don't think they needed to make the two resemble each other. Overall, I like it, but not as thrilled since it reminds me of the IS and somewhat the M. I wanted to see something unique.... Not an IS, not an M. I wanted a next generation G, not a combo of the IS and M.

Anyone else see this as well?

They way I see it Infiniti borrowed more from BMW then they did Lexus. The back end somewhat and the side crease from rear fender to front wheel well. They took BMW ideas and created their own interpretations.

As far as having M in it...there is no question. Infiniti needs a brand identity and one way to start is to create a family resemblance through similiar front fascias. For a little while it might be tough to tell the G and M apart but we'll get used to it. I think there are enough subtle differences.

I totally understand. I am hoping the new G finishes what the old one started and accomplishes a "german ride" in a Japanese vehicle. We'll see!

Yeah, same here. More Jags than Infinitis are sold where I live just because there is a dealer within 20 miles. Hopefully the dealer network will get better in the coming years.

I don't see IS, I do see some things the IS was trying to best the G IMO. And M, well, when the M came out, I saw some G in it. Look back about 18 years ago, the Accord, the Camry, the Maxima, those cars all looked similar. I think once you see the '07 in person, or see one on the road, you will see it differently. Funny you should say uniqiue, these cars are all trying to beat each other, like I said before, should get interesting.
