I was actually impressed with it for the most part. It looks a little wierd from the side and from a certain angle in the back (which I think I saw in the video or something.) I am still really happy with it though.

The only question I have is what does the m35 have over the G35 sedan now? There is a pretty big price difference, but I dont see any significantly better unless you get the m45.

Amber lighting? :P I'm surprised that Infiniti put all the major upgrades into the 2007 G35 and now the upgrades have to work their way UP the line to the halo models rather than starting at the top and going down.

Will this G be as big interior space wise as the current G? it is a must for me, personally. besides the good looks, sporty features and great price equalling value, interior space was another huuuuuge factor in me wanting a G

The side body line that everyone is kind of unsure about definitely adds to its stance and looks very natural in motion.
you mean regis philbin? he is far too old to be driving a g

It didn't strike me as 'amazing' or 'WOW,' but it's a very nice revolution from the current sedan. I wish it retained more G35ness and less M45ish front end. Definitely not feeling the Maxima rear bumper though.

All in all, my first reaction to this car was much better than the first time I saw the new 3 series.

The coupe concept on the other hand though, was amazing.

I don't get the comparison to the IS this car is clearly Nissan/Infiniti and it should look like the M series because well it's Infiniti's most recent design and it's the new face of Infiniti overall I think this car holds true to what it should be a sport sedan that is a little bigger than the other cars in it's class just as our generation G35 was. I am still waiting for pricing and as mentioned before pictures don't do Nissan/Infiniti justice you have to SEE it in different colors, test drive it and then tell me if you still feel it's not WOW.

The new G sedan has enough of its own styling cues to differentiate it from other cars, such as the BMW 3 series and the Lexus IS.

When you look at the new G, you recognize it as being a continuation of the previous G sedan and that is very important for the future of Infiniti. People need to see continuity in Infiniti's designs. That is where they failed before. There has to be a look in all their cars that lets people know that this an Infiniti.

With this new car, Infiniti has announced that it is playing to win. You can see it in the specs. The standard and optional features, the engine (7400 rpm redline), the interior space, etc.

On a side note, there was a discussion about the new G on Clublexus com. There was a lot of talk comparing it with the IS and not all of it was negative.

Anyway, I went to read the thread today and it has been deleted by one their mods, 1sicklex. Someone questioned him as to why the thread was deleted. He basically said that there were enough Nissan boards out there to talk about the new G so it doesn't need to discussed at Clublesux.

I chuckled when I read that. It shows me that the new G is right on the money. When the Lexus propaganda folks decide that it cannot be given mention in their forums, then you know that the new G35 is a serious contender. It poses too much of a threat.

Believe me, when I say that Nissan/Infiniti is playing to win. You saw it in the first G. Now you will see it again in the second generation.

Ok... here's my thoughts. At first glance when I saw the outside of it, I fell in love with it. It's just more defined, nice curves, the projector headlights are a plus, the dual exhaust rocks, the wheels were ok, but I still like mine. But you could still tell it was a G. Then I saw the inside pics, and I wanted to cry. I dunno, I love the new gauge cluster, but the center console.... the buttons reminded me of like a Saturn or something. It just seemed really cheep to me, seemed like something that should be in an american car or something. Its growing on me now, but I had such high hopes for the interior and that was definately a let down for me. I guess all of us were hoping it was gonig to resemble the coupe concept, so anything less was a let down no matter what.

Don't get me wrong, I'd buy it in a few years when i'm ready to trade in my 05, but the revolution wasn't "WOW" enough for me to go and do something drastic this november when it shows up at the dealers. (Which is good, I don't need to go into debt hehe) Maybe they'll update the interior in 2 years like they did when the first introduced the G. But for now, I prefer my own interior.

Its awesome they upped the ponies to compete with the IS, but come on, most of us have modded our cars and could kill it now as it is anyways

I know couple of you were comparing it to the new 330i, which is nice too. But I still feel like Infiniti has surpassed BMW in so many ways. Overall design, technology, engine design, etc.

Ok, so there's my 2 cents or so, its really interesting reading everyone's opinions. Keep 'em coming!

I don't understand why they used those ***** on the radio/temp control. Why not something similar to the 05/06? Overall I like the interior, but I also think setting the gauges into pods would have been a nice touch (like in the M). Still like the car overall and can't wait to drive one.

Sat in the car yesterday

As a member of the press I was able to go to the auto show yesterday and i can tell you first hand the 07 is a lot nicer than our earlier models. Styling is clearly subjective, but the interior is not. The nav-entertainment units is very nice. Very much like the M. And I can confirm the nav does have touch screen. The entire interior seems to flow better and materials are definitely a step up. I will wait for them to get the kinks out but cant imagine holding on to my 05 for too long.

Must be a friend of ABQ_G35 - the other current G35 interior connoisseur.

Yep, that's who I meant. He was driving one on the show yesterday morning. I saw the video feed online but it's been taken down. He wasn't driving it hard or anything but it sure did look a lot better on the road than it did in those first few pics we saw. It's kind of amazing how much lower to the ground it is than the current sedan. There is like 1.5" less wheel gap easy.
