Anyone not "wowed" with the new G35 Sedan?

I don't know, I'm kind of let down a bit.
I thought it was going to look much different then the way it ended up.
Interior improvements are definitely there, leeps and bounds.
But the exterior is kind of bleh, the front is ok...but the lines seem kind of weird. And the rear looks like a friggin Avalon.
Maybe I need to see it in person to get a better appreciation of it, or maybe I'm just spoiled by the coupe concept pics?
Anyone else feel this way?

I felt the same way for a while, but it started to grow on me after I looked at the pictures a bit more. It is a pretty origional design other than the avalon look, but its minor. The only thing I dont like is the hood design and how chunky the rear bumper looks, but it still looks nice to me. The G now is a little too squarish in back for me. Although the interior is amazing! Huge improvement although im missing the pop up nav. The coupe concept pics did look better than the sedan, but we'll just have to see how it looks in person i guess.
Man, I felt exactly this way about 24 hours ago. I was going on and on like a bitch about how I expected it to be more aggressive, wider, lower to the ground, how I expected it to look more like the coupe concept - how much I hated the rear bubbles, how it still looked tall and clumsy compared to the much more aggressivly stanced IS and 3-series.
And then I saw the pictures on the Infiniti site and saw stupid Regis drive one on his show today. Let me tell you, the pictures we saw in the first 24 hours don't do it justice at all. I'm not all peaches and creme now (I still dislike the spoiler, and am not very excited about the rear in general), but having seen it driving I can say that it is much shorter, lower to the ground, wider, and more aggressive looking that the current sedan. The side body line that everyone is kind of unsure about definitely adds to its stance and looks very natural in motion.
I think when we all see it 1) in different colors 2) with different wheels 3) in person beside its compeitors, we will all have a new appreciation for it. Just my call.
(Interestingly, I had the exact opposite reaction to the new IS. When I saw the first pictures I was practically drooling. As time went on and I saw more detailed pictures, then saw it in person, I grew to really dislike it.)

I know how you feel. I was soo excited to see the sedan after seeing the coupe, it just turned into a let down...but I was more wowed by a stock black tinted M45 sport i saw yesterday...mmm m45....
I'm not too keen on the back end. Dual exhaust looks nice, but the trunk looks kind of retarded, like a BMW. The trunk lines doesn't flow with the rest of the body, it's almost like it was pasted on, again like the BMW. But maybe it looks better in real life.

i think the new G is far better then the present model. Though the only thing that bugs me is the front. Love the headlights, love the projectors, love it all but the front bumber is kinda wacky in a nonbad way sense. It looks good but i prefer the front to be more edgy. not the round shape that it is. I totally love the back though. Maybe cut the coupe concept in half and stick the front half on the sedan and im happy with the result.
I couldn't agree with you more. The new G did not earn my future business, and made my decision to go back to BMW even easier.
Great improvements on the interior but the body is just plain ugly in my opinion. As a matter of fact I feel that my '05 has nothing to envy the new '07 at all. Moreover, it has not sense of individuality at all. If I was an M driver I'd be pissed to see they borrowed the front end and if I was an '07 G driver I'd be pissed my rear end looked like someone kicked me in the a$$ and left a big dent in it. The rear end is hideous!!! what were they thinking? really!!!! It has no agressive stance with those wimp a$$ wheels and tires and it's way too high.
I was not "wowed" by this car like I was when I saw the '03 model. I have to be impressed the first time I see it. When people say "it's growing on me" it's like they accept it, but don't love it. When you spend this kind of coin on a car, you better love it.

Yea, seriously Chico....I thought was going to get a G coupe or wait it out for the next gen sedan...
But after seeing the direction Infiniti is going in put down a deposit and I ordered myself a BMW 330i yesterday afternoon.

mike you actually got the 330? thats a sweet car, just not a big fan of the rear. however, you will be amazed at how those cars handle with sports suspension. my mom's 530i with sports package will def outhandle my G, even tho its on coils. did you get stick or auto?? what options? etc. you probably wont be disappointed. however i think if the G coupe looks anything like the concept....WOW

I like the overall design. The front end lost some of the character of the current model. The rear end seems like an improvement. The car seems to sit better. INMHO the tail lights are mediocre. Though much better than my 2005
Nissan seems to have trouble designing a nice looking rear end. In recent years, the only rear ends I like from Nissan are the G35c and 350z. the rest are very bland or overly styled.
Overall, the new G is pretty cool looking. The interior is actually impressive. The options list has grown to include all of the features that I could ever want. The lack of a 6-speed auto is rather surprising. Looks like the X model will once again be a compromise, unless I'm mistaken. I'm hoping they reconsider and offer a X model with the sport package.
