Thumbs up Tire Feedback - So Long GS-Ds!

The time has come to change the poor Goodyear Eagle GS-Ds that came with my 2004 G35 sedan. At 22,000 miles, I consider them a tremendous tire since I have done three track days on them (Nashville Motor Speedway and Carolina Motorsports Park) as well as much irresponsible street antics. They are quiet and still rather grippy.

I think I have narrowed my search to the following...unless I can find a set of those awesome 18" forged wheels with sufficient tread that my wife won't suspect are thrashed. Appreciate any experience you might share. Yeah, I am adding a little width from the stock 215/55 dimension but not that much.

  1. BF Goodrich g-Force Sport - 225/55ZR-17
  2. Continental ContiSportContact 2 - 235/50ZR17
  3. Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval - 235/50ZR17
  4. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 - 235/50ZR17

Cheers!

Only one I've had experience with was the Goodyears. If the temperature is above 60 degrees, they are very grippy. Below that and you have to be careful. Got noisy after wearing some.

The Continentals are definitely the quietest and smoothest riding of the bunch. They are mid to high in performance overall.

New Rubber..............

Those BFGs are great tires and the price is "right!" Over the years I've used
Goodyears, BFGs and Michelins and for the money the BFGs are the best value. I had issues with the Goodyears, the sidewalls were cracking leaving
me stranded twice with flat tires......sucks!

What about Flaken FK-451. I am not sure about new FK-452 but from my experience FK-451 is an amazing tire. It sticks to the road like no other and I did really good on 1/4 on them as well.
