Marketplace Searching

Why is it that in the Search feature, we can't search for a thread in the Marketplace? I think it would be much easier for someone looking to buy something specific to find it quicker than having to go through numerous pages.

Go to the specific forum in which you wish to search and go to the top right corner/area. There is a search bar there.

i agree with donpisto. while you have the ability to search using the drop down, you can't do an advanced search which will usually yield better results.

You're not making sense. If I'm getting you correctly, you're arguing that people should perform a variety of searches that yield non-specific results, then hunt and peck thru the threads until you find what you want (assuming its actually there). This is far less efficient than simply expanding the advanced search function to the marketplace. Obviously, there's a desire to do this and/or have a better search tool otherwise this thread wouldn't exist.

FWIW, I don't even bother using the regular search button in the marketplace because I find it to be pretty useless IMO. Instead, I go to google, enter in the terms i'm looking for, then use the 'site:g35driver.com' search tool.

bigc - a request has been sent to IB. This is how it is on My350z and that is how it should be on here, too, IMO.

DA, I think you're misunderstanding what I meant. Lets say I want to find Rays 19" wheels. If I do that in a normal search it will bring results for other things, like picture share. The whole point is to find something specific in a certain section within the marketplace.

e1sk8er4ever, I did what you said and that helps a bunch. I think it should be part of the Advanced Search though. Only drawback is if someone puts whatever they are selling in the wrong section, such as something that can be placed in the Audio/Video/Electronics section, or maybe put in the Miscellaneous section.

*edit: basically, the way it is setup on my350z is what I was describing.

Have an Admin enable the forum to be included in the search. One click, easy fix.
