Classified Forums - New design & functionality
OK everyone here it is.......
The Classified Forums will see an extensive makeover.
This makeover was driven by the members and their desire to have a better system for local sale posting.
This has taken a while to develop because we had to come up with a way that;
The method that we came up with makes extensive use of the thread 'Prefix' system.
You have probably seen thread prefixes used in other forums,
and we are using it here in some Club forums and in the Anything Goes section.
The system developed for the classifieds, takes it to another level......
There will be four(4) categories of 'prefixes'
Classified ....for normal whole site items, willing to ship
Local FS Classified
Local WTB Classified
Local WTT Classified
Under Classified there will be three(3) choices
FS:
WTB:
WTT:
Under Local FS Classified, there will be a choice for every local region. e.g.
FS[NorCal]:
FS[SoCal]:
FS[West]:
FS[Texas]:
FS[South]: ...etc.
and.... likewise for the Local WTB and Local WTT Classified selections.
These are very easy to use when you create a new classified.
The prefixes are in a categorized drop down selector.
STEP 1. Creating a New Classified
....Here is what it will look like when you start a new classified thread. (the screen shot is from our debug test forum)

This has taken a while to develop because we had to come up with a way that;
- Provides the functionality requested
- doesn't compromise classified security & validation.
- doesn't add a huge load to staff moderation duties.

STEP 2 - What It looks Like
Here is what a typical forum will look like after some data has been posted.....
This a global 'All data' view.
Note: please ignore content, it's a mixed bag of old posts in our test forum.
The same structure for wheels, Interior, Exterior etc will still be in place as it is now.

Step 3a - Filtering The threads for what you want to see
...and here is the real benefit to this system.
From within the forum, you have the ability to sort & display only the threads you want to see.
At the bottom of the forum page is a box for 'Display Options'
In that box, you have the same drop down box as you do for new threads.
By selecting the 'Prefix' you want, you filter out all of the other threads except what you want.
In this example, the forum was filtered for Local Texas FS threads.

Step 3b - Bookmark Your Searches
If you have a favorite search;
Bookmark it in your web browser

Step 4 - Access Classifieds from Region Forum HOT links
Predefined HOT links will be set up for each region, in each 'Region' forum.
There will be FS:, WTB: & WTT links set up and they will look something like this....
FS[MidWest]:
WTB[MidWest]:
WTT[MidWest]:
They will act similar to the current forum 'New Posts' function,
e.g. the 1st example willl bring up all MidWest FS: items in all classified sub-forums.

nice.. i like this a lot.. also is there a way to have more monitoring on the current FS threads?? like if its been a while since the post and the OP just keeps promising pictures and never does or doesn't state location or price can it just be deleted and then the OP can post when he has all the Data that he needs to start the thread?
