The only reason I say that the '07 350z should match (not beat) the performance of a 335i is b/c I remember reading many magazines where the '06 350z has gotten around 13.7 in the quarter mile. With the higher power rating of the vq35hr, lower times should definately be seen which would put it in similar category as the 335i.

The 335i is a very quick car, and it can definately hold it's own. It's remarkably easy to tune as well but stock for stock, the 350z (in terms of performance) should be very close to it. I am pretty sure it won't beat it though.

Once again all these comparisons but you are paying 12k+ more for the 335i then a G35c, doesnt quite compare in my head. I would just keep an eye out for the new E92 M3 coming out.

330 HP especially under the new standard would be good enough for me. I'd be buying.
This is the same way I've been thinking. To add to your theory... Remember the '03 G35 Sedan came with 260 hp and the '03 Coupe came with 280 hp. I'm willing to bet that the 2008 g35 coupe will come with 330 hp and around 300 ft/lbs. of torque.

Well according to the latest MotorTrend, the 08 Coupe will have the same VQ35HR as the 07 Sedan, but I'm just goin to wait til April to find out, speculations are getting annoying LOL

Look at it like this, nissan will not make the g35 faster than the 350z. The g35 coupe will have the new generation of the VQ (the same motor inside the 07 350z). I will bet money on it...i dont know why everyone is getting so excited.

what if Infiniti is trying to get back at Nissan for making Altima Coupe look like a G and prolly kill G's sales.
So they are putting a beast inside the G so it'll smoke GTR
That would be awesome

Nissan/Infiniti is the same company LOL...

Anyways, The G is not trying to compete with the Z, they are trying to compete with the BMW's 335i, now if they don't make it faster than it currently is, they lose that competition, which would mean loss of sales, but you never know, just wait til NYIAS and we'll al lfind out

This article isn't telling us anything new...read an article just a few weeks ago stating basically the exact same thing. Can't we all just wait for the darn auto show before making all these assumptions?

Does anyone know the expected price range for the 08 coupe?? Is it going to be about the same as the previous years, or are they going to bump the price up to the 40k range to compare to the 335?

Speaking of 335, I was reading on my buddy's bimmer forum(he's a proud owner of a 335) that Vishnu is finishing up their software, so with their software and a catback system which will set you back about 1100 you get around 75-85 rwhp, which i consider NUTS.

But the G35/350z's current VQ35HR engine which is 3.5 liter displaces 306 hp (according to the new ratings). I don't know the numbers that well but I am sure even the '07 350z can definately match the performance of a 335i.
I actually think the 335i needs to get even more slightly bumped up to stay competitive or they can just release the new m3 which supposedly has 400hp. "

Hey guys- The 335i turbo is not 300 HP, it is probable closer to 350. It was tested twice by Automobile Mag, and they came away after 2 separate Dyno tests on different days with different 335s, it almost put 300 to the wheels.
Can we say sleeper engine, or dileberate incorrect published specs like the older US muscle cars.

http://www.automobilemag.com/feature..._dyno_revised/

I am sure this may be a re-post, since its weeks old, but it seemed appropriate for the conversation. I drove the car myself, and while my Dyno butt still cant match the exact specs, the report read 'Frekin Fazt".

Now while those Bavarian Motorheads may have come up with some incredible engineering, the style department is not enough to jump-start my checkbook after it flatlined from sticker shock. Even if the new G coupe comes in over $35K base, it will be cheaper - better looking - and hopefully just as fast.
