i think it looks just beautiful. especially those professional shots released yesterday, not those dirty road test pics.

also, anyone else know which spoiler we will be getting? the dirty test car version at edmunds.com, or the glammed up promo version??

I don't want to bundle everyone in the same boat but 90% of the haters here are 1st gen owners that finish their post with "I'm glad I bought (input year of their car in here) when I did". Their opinion is obviously biased but I understand, it's always normal when a new model comes out. They are however more loud then I expected.

Man what a total let down. This was on my top list of cars I was looking to buy. Looks like I'm gonna have to pass. Also dissapointed with the lack of torque and what's up with the 5 speed auto?

Souped Up Altima Coupe

The G37 is a glorified Altima Coupe (availability soon as well)...www.nissan.ca/en/ms/altima_coupe_2008/

The new gen definitely has lost its distinctive aggressive edgy ahead of the curve design look.

And it's definitely a different feeling when I first saw a Gen One G35 Coupe in the showroom and said "I have to get me one of these" compared to now...hmm, maybe it'll grow on me. Although the technical and performance specs look great, it's too bad for the watered down design just misses the mark.

How do you guys keep comparing the Coupe to the Altima Coupe? They look NOTHING alike other than the fact that they are both COUPES... you people are nuts!

Like many here I was awaiting the release of the car with much anticipation. While I will go see it when arrives, based on everything thus far there is almost no chance of me purchasing a 2008 G35 coupe. The design team on this car missed the boat.
+1
No way I will but this 2nd gen when I have a mean 04 6MT that is nearly paid off and I can easily get 430+ dependable HP and other sweet mods for less than another 16K

I like the new coupe, and will wait to see what I am going to buy after I testdrive it. To consider any car worthy from a few pics without seeing it in person is very quick judgement. Critics and bloggers alike would have give Infiniti a lot of crap if they had not made changes but kept it looking the same, and surprise surprise, a model that comes out always looks slightly different from the concept. That is nothing new.

For years older gen model car owners are sometimes the first to dislike the new gen roll outs, so sorry to tell all you naysayers out there, but you are just sounding like sooo many previous car owners who hate the new (fill in the blank) __________
corvette, mustang, bimmer, audi, merc, honda.....

Design must evolve, change, and in order to win over more car share, they have to come away from styling cues that may have driven buyers away in the past. You may think it is going to have a hard time in the market finding buyers, you may be right, but if it sells more cars then the previous model, then they did the right thing for buyers and share holders alike.

Either way it a great looking car in my personal opinion and I want more then ever to test drive it and find out what it will take to put 1 in the driveway.

hate to agree, but he's right.

how many cars have enthusiasts said WOW the next GEN is AWESOME ! lol prob besides the 2007 4dr G. NOT MANY ( and I'm one of them ). A curve here a color there, and the next gen looks like crap (in our eyes). but in a few years we find ourselves saying... it actually looks good, more then likely because all the other cars out there have similar styling cues and im guessing compared to them it looks better.

either way guys its evolution.

ppp

I have to admit I am a bit disappointed allthough the more I look at the new design, the more it grows on me. I agree though about the concept, it looked much better than the actual release.

I thought the saying was, "underpromise and overdeliver" but apparently Infiniti got it backwards and, "overpromised and underdelivered". Way to go guys!

I think I am like most people on this board. I did not really care for the first pictures. i like the second ones better, but I will hold out final judgement till I see it in person.

My question is, even if we all respond to Infiniti (which I don't think is necessary due to Infiniti mikes presence here) do you really think they will change the car they have almost ready to go to production? I'm sure it would cost a lot of money to redesign the thing now.

Concept pics are in a room with special lighting on it and what looks to be some kind of special shiny paint. Also wheels are CHROME (added weight and $$$).

Put both out in the sunlight on a road, and the difference may not be that much. Sedan was same way in pics. We gotta see this new coupe in a room under lights at NYIAS.
