I've been on many different car forums when a new model comes out and it's always the same. People with the previous model say how ugly the new one is. Eventually newbies start rolling in who just purchased the said latest model and say how great it is. Eventually the new model is now the "standard" and the older ones get looked down upon. It seems to always happen this way.

You are totally correct, I have also seen it happen with so many other automakers. That's why I don't really put too much thought into what the peple who bash it say!!

Well, I am keeping my G35...... I was really looking forward to trading up to the G37, but the styling isn't doing it for me. If it had been the Coupe Concept it would be a very different story.

New rotors, fix the stinking AC (literally), and....... well, besides that the 4.5yr old G still runs perfectly. I gotta say, the G35C along with the Q45 are the most reliable cars we've ever owned.

You are absolutely right, only a few of us who have the 1st gen like the new one. I love the new model, the kidd who doesnt have one will get it because there is no point in getting the older model, in this case has way more hp and better suspension. Then when they start posting how gr8 it is people will listen and say hmmmm. Then they modify it, get a sick color and so forth then things change

I'm thinking the same thing and I bet there are some big changes in the G's front end etc. for 09 after all of this...

I agree that to a large degree the new G37 was somewhat a "let down". Many owners, including myself, were or still are contemplating a new G.

However, after all the hoopla and reports of the concept becoming a reality, it somehow lost its appeal due to its generic type styling. IMO, I feel all the product line is heading in the same direction. No longer individuality. Thats my biggest gripe I guess......The infiniti line up car wise is all starting to look pretty much the same, give or take a set of doors or two.

I think, especially in my state where a front plate is mandatory, the new G37 will look like the 07 sedan coming and going.....

For the money, I believe this Coupe will be hard to beat, especially with all the upgraded amenities, including the big bump in Hp and improved handling.

Only time will tell how this will play out, I don't think they will have a lot full of these cars at the dealership once production starts...

I'm by no means "jealous". I think the right term would be dissapointed.....sigh........

If we don't like it..............

If there's things we don't like about the new G37 we gotta let Infiniti know.
Otherwise they'll keep putting out cars that look as bad as the new G37
and they'll realize they should have gone with the concept drawings. If you
don't like the new frontend (I hate it) like I mentioned before get GReddy to
make you a new piece.....I can guarantee Infiniti reads our posts and might
even consider our ideas!!

What if infiniti made this car a luxury coupe with sportiness, and to target a certain demographic. Then down the line within the year or so, they come out with a pure sport version to rival the m3 with say 400hp? They are coming with a convertible version within the next year so it is possible.

Im saying this because infiniti is not stupid, they saw how lovely and sporty the g35 was and still is. Why would they put out a car thats so luxurious, look at it its all grown up and muscular (i love it by the way). I think they have something up their sleeves, anyone else think so or understand what i am getting at?

Then how do you explain the almost unanimous positive reaction to the concept (that was supposed to be 90% the production version)?

I think a lot of people will have change of heart when they see it in person.I like the car kinda , i'm still going to see it at Nyias with my own eyes! I've seen a lot of cars look great in pics but look like s**t in person and vice versa.
Six months or so when people see G37 speeding around town it might not look as bad.
