IMO, I feel all the product line is heading in the same direction. No longer individuality. Thats my biggest gripe I guess......The infiniti line up car wise is all starting to look pretty much the same, give or take a set of doors or two.
I think, especially in my state where a front plate is mandatory, the new G37 will look like the 07 sedan coming and going.....
For the money, I believe this Coupe will be hard to beat, especially with all the upgraded amenities, including the big bump in Hp and improved handling.
Only time will tell how this will play out, I don't think they will have a lot full of these cars at the dealership once production starts...
I'm by no means "jealous". I think the right term would be dissapointed.....sigh........

Great post- I feel exactly the same. I'm a huge Infiniti fan too, but all their cars look almost the same now.

If they simply dismiss their best focus group's comments (40,000+ INFINITI owners and car enthusiasts), who are they listening to?
Their prototype and new sedan were better received than the new coupe. Even some our members that photoshopped some pics, did a better job in their creativity design than the new coupe's designers.
Honesty is a beautiful thing!

its our duty to criticize infiniti with the g37...us G35 coupe owners fell in love with our cars upon first site of it...so if u dont like criticism then tough ...deal with it ...but then again there tends to be a bias toward newer models..which is expected since u can goto any other forum such as bmw..and see the battle between the e46 and e90...e90 owners love their cars..and e46 ppl think their cars are superior...but one thing that is undoubtedly true is that the g37 will be a hit....it looks great ...but which one is better is all dependent upon personal oppinion
I am giving Infiniti the ultimate criticism for the G37- I won't buy one. They lost a customer! I was going to trade in my '04 Coupe for the G37 if it was a kick-@ss design. I'm keeping the G35 for now and will see what happens in the future with other brands (Audi S5 is looking very good right now).

The G37 is a good looking car, but that's not enough for our taste. We want a beautiful, sexy, jaw droppingly gorgeous coupe. We want the G to look like a G, not a M, not a Maxima, not with a Toyota bumper. That's not too much to ask for is it? I am sure Nissan Design can whip out a new front bumper in a year or two, perhaps the non-sport front bumper would look better. That said, I don't think there is any easy way to correct the tail lamps shape and the rear fender. Those are pretty much stamped in metal and I don't see how those could be corrected anytime soon. As it stands, the G37 Coupe is much better looking than any of its competitors, but for us original owners - it's not good enough.
btw: I just spent an hour during lunch today staring at my 03 Coupe sitting in the sun. Damn what a beautiful car it is. The G37 Coupe reminds me of what a rarity the original G35 coupe is in terms of design, styling, packaging and performance.

We are not a bunch of good for nothing whiners, we have been here waiting patiently for a follow up to a beautiful car and we are dissapointed.

Great post! Agree 100%. Very well put. It seems like Nissan didn't know what to change for the new generation. Improving on something that is almost perfect is extremely difficult. Chrome strips do not belong on G Coupes too. I had a feeling that they would screw up the design with the new generation- the original G35 Coupe was one of the most pure and clean designs ever produced by any auto manufacturer.

+1 The new sedan is one of the best looking cars I have ever seen. Infiniti really screwed the pooch on the coupe design though. What a shame.
