Snow Mode Switch Present In V36 Skyline 370GT Picture
Anyone else notice this? We don't sell many AWD G35s here in Hawaii so I've never actually seen the snow mode switch in any of our cars, but I had seen the location for the switch in pictures (between the switches for the seat warmers). Well I'm pretty sure the switch is only available on AWD models (the only RWD Infinitis which I believe still have a snow mode switch are the FX 2WD and I believe the QX 2WD as well). In any case, I found it odd that the switch was present in the picture below. Does Nissan simply equip RWD V36 Coupes with a snow mode switch as they do in the FX and QX? They have to as I've heard no word of AWD being available anytime soon. Either that or this shot of the interior came from a V36 Sedan with AWD.
*Also of note is the fact that there are no switches for cruise control, nor switches on the mirror for Homelink yet the switches for Navi and AFS are present. Different option packaging in Japan I assume. Still, this shot of the interior has me wondering about a lot of different things. You folks have probably already noticed that they offer the Bourbon interior from the M on the Skyline Sedan and Coupe as you can clearly see in these shots.

Actually the switch can be found on 2WD FXs and QXs in addition to their AWD/4WD counterparts. I believe it starts you off in 2nd gear for better off the line traction in slippery conditions. It may also cause the transmission to shift sooner to keep revs down in order to decrease the potential for wheelspin. However it is not found on USDM G Coupes, RWD G Sedans or RWD Ms which made me wonder what it was doing in that picture. For passenger cars the switch is only present in the G35x and the M35x/M45x.

95% of the sedans we sell are AWD here... they save costs by using the same type of buttons... the older AWD in the 04-06 G35x were 25front/75rear at start up -- now it's 50/50 then 100% rear.... the snow mode in the G, M, FX were great... makes the gas pedal a heavier feel and u really feel the AWD lock into place more... worked well on the FX in the ice storms and w/ the 22" tires on
and i asked the Nissan/Infiniti corp reps last week why we dont get the bourbon interior and it's about cost-- too many combos already ... sucks i cant wait till they offer it in the G's or even in more color packages for the M
