as somebody who has had a 7 series and 5 series i can tell you once these cars hit like 70k expect them to be in the shop often and the bill isnt cheap..atleast $800 but even more every time. japanese cars on the other hand never have had those problems maybe after 100k but its nothing like $1000 repairs

Just my 2 cents... before I purchased my G35 coupe, I was contemplating between the 335i, G35 coupe 6MT and E46 M3. For me, it all came down to reliability and maintenance costs. I knew the 335i and M3 were better performers, but I just did not want to risk a potential money pit with the M3 or 335i. I've been a fan of BMWs, specifically the M3, since the E30, but I honestly wouldn't purchase one without a better income. Now that I've settled with the G, I am satisfied that I have made the right choice... all things considered. I'll reserve the BMWs when it makes better sense financially.

Friend just bought his 335 on October 31st, 28k miles, his turbos just went out. Got my G on the 2nd of this month and is running flawlessly, 66k miles.
