I wouldn't call G luxury or sport. More of a near-luxury or semi-sport. G sedan really cannot compete with Lexus, BMW or MB. Better to compare the G to Acura, Hyundai, and Volvo.

One look at the quality of the sponsor section of this forum would show, the G is the new Civic.

I disagree, it has competed with Lexus for sure. No way is it a Civic, I rented a Civic on a trip earlier this year, and there is no comparison, none!!! People have always been modding the G since it first appeared.

lol well atleast in Hawaii it hasn't reached civic status yet. I can honestly say that. the poor people here are still driving and ricing Hondas for the most part. a specific poor ethnic group here are only starting to drive acura integras lol. so itll be awhile. but we see riced out g35s on driver all day everyday lol

I meant the G35 is the new civic because the majority of people buying used G35s now are the previous Civic generation from 4-5 years ago (read all the intro threads from last couple years). The lower quality of modifications is also clearly indicative.

I can technically compete against Usain Bolt in a run, doesn't mean the victor isn't already clear. Lexus quality is clearly superior.

Do a quick search on google images for G35 Ricer. Then try to tell me the G35 is not the new Civic.

Blah, blah, blah think what you want! I don't agree about Lexus either, my neighbor had an IS, and it was had cramped interior, and and the quality was comparable to my G35. Okay, so you bag on the G, why do you frequent this site, to put down other owners?

True, but the search results were far less plentiful 5-8 years ago. Many of the "modification" threads here make Brian O'Conner cry.

There is a reason Infiniti changed to Q, because the knew the G name was ruined and cannot compete with Lexus, BMD, MB.

Lexus has had highest quality and custom satisfaction for many years. Lexus as a brand has always ranked higher quality any Infiniti. Even the Hyundai sedans regularly beat the G in quality. All 3 of my Gs were frequently in the dealership for something falling apart. I would estimate personally about 40 warranty issues between the 3 cars.

Mainly still come here because I know more about the VQ platform that majority of current members and try to answer questions. Also the political section is pretty active and Jeep forum doesn't allow political section.

My last G, was an '07 S, and it only had two issues in over 50k driving it. I will agree the original '03 and '04 had some issues, but the most my '07 was in the shop was normal maintenance. That's why I bought another before the G disappears, if it really does. I don't think the Q50 not having leather as standard is a move toward luxury, I think it's a step backward.

My last G was an 08 G37S. I had 14 warranty claims in the first year. (Many for the same issues)

After a year of ownership and only about 10k miles, I sold it for a 10k hit just to get rid of the POS.

Yes some owners do not have issues. The ones that do, move on to a better car and not around the forum anymore. But JD Power Quality Survey over the last decade clearly shows Infiniti is not on par with Lexus.

I do agree Lexus is better . Lexus quality imo out rank all the other luxury brands including the euros. But I don't agree about the reason behind infinitis name change. Has nothing to do with ricers. Ricers are a small percentage. Too small for inifiti to pay attention to or care about. But Idk if buddie was jus joking. Theyre jus going thru some naming restructuring thats it. I'm assuming to them unifying under the q name will add some luxury value to the brand.

I agree with say. If you want style, buy Audi. If you want power/luxury buy BMW, MB. If you want reliability buy Lexus. If you want a little of each buy Infiniti.

I was kidding about them changing to Q because of ricers. Truth be told, they dont car about G35 owners anymore. Last thing on their mind is an 18 year old kid that recently sold his CRX and is looking for a used car for 10k. Inifiniti is focused on 40 year old business men with money.

The name change is the first big move of Infiniti's new CEO (former CEO of Audi). Infiniti has always been on par with Acura, but they want to be a global luxury car like BMW and MB. If you look at Audis naming scheme, you can see exactly where it is coming from. The CEO said they did a study and relatively few people knew the difference between G vs M or JX vs FX. Switching to a single nomenclature makes it very simple to distinguish low level Q50 to high level Q70, giving more vauled owners instant recognition. Very small percentage of people know the differences between A4 and A8, but even the dumbest of blondes can tell that if an A4 and A8 are sitting next to each other, the A8 means $$$$.
