Supplemental air bag warning light staying on(blinking) while driving.....

Anyone had/has this issue? I want to educate myself on this as I don't have warranty. I trust my dealer, but you never know.

thanks in advance.

Manual states that unless checked and repaired, it could mean that the supplemental front air bag, suppl. side air bag and curtain side-impact air bag systems and/or pre-tensioner seat belt system will not operate in an accident.

warning light is red in ours:

A warning light that looks like this or says SRS should NEVER come on unless there is a fault in your vehicle's air bag system (supplemental restraint system or SRS). Like the engine computer and ABS computer, the air bag control module runs a self-check every time the vehicle is driven. If it finds a fault in a crash sensor, one of the air bag modules, the wiring or itself, it will set a code, turn on the warning light and disable itself. You can drive the vehicle but the air bag(s) will NOT deploy should you be involved in an accident. You should have the problem diagnosed and repaired at your earliest convenience.

Usually thats on when there is or was hard fault in the air bag system.

Best to take it in and have it taken care of...

99% sure it will be covered under warranty as long as you didnt do anything with the electronic wiring at all...

Thanks.

No accidents and everything is and has been stock on this car..for wiring and everything else.

I will be taking it in tomorrow or the next day.

I hope you are right on being covered by warranty, but my regular warranty has expired.

Isnt their some kinda of method used to reset this light having to do with your ignition turning it on then off every 7 sec or something. I disconnected my air bag plug and need to reset it.

When you go into a dealer for any repair this is what SHOULD happen.... But it also depends on the knowledge of your service advisor...

Check in your car.
Get authorization from customer (diagnostic fee)*
*If the failure is covered under warranty the diagnostic fee is waived. If not the fee goes towards the repairs.
Find the primary cause of failure part number.
Search the PART NUMBER for warranty coverage with the INFINITI Warranty Book, obtain Warranty Repair Operation Code & time. Get authorization from INFINITI if required.
Contact customer to inform of concern and to authorize the repair.

Alright nvm i found it my self

Ill be trying 2maro.

For the Airbag Reseting procedure…You must first change the SRS system to self-diagnosis mode, and then back to user mode to clear the airbag fault you might be getting after unplugging the side-impact seat airbag and driving with the car..

How to Change to Self-Diagnosis Mode:
1. Turn Ignition switch from OFF to ON.
2. Within 1 second after air bag warning lamp is on for 7 seconds and turns off, turn OFF ignition switch
3. After ignition switch is turned off, wait for more than 3 seconds.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 twice. (perform 3 times in total)
5. Turn ignition switch ON again (turn to Diagnosis Mode.)
Turn to USER mode
1. Turn Ignition switch to OFF to ON.
2. Within 1 second after airbag warning lamp is on for 7 seconds and turns off, turn off the ignition switch.
3. After ignition switch is turned OFF, wait for more than 3 seconds.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 twice (perform 3 times in total)
5. Turn ignition switch ON again (Turn to User Mode)

Your Airbag light should no longer flash while driving…

Right, but you never know and something COULD be wrong with your air bag, and in case of an accident it doesn't deploy, thats bad news. My friend was ripping his g35x hard on corners one day, and his air bag light went on. When he took it in for service, his whole side curtain airbag had to be replaced... why? No clue... lol. Recently another friend cracked his rim, got mad and punched his steering wheel air bag, after that the air bag light went on and has been blinking ever since. So for all you know, something could have happened to the air bag... best to get it checked by the dealership.

When the air bag light comes on you better be bringing it in! No excuse since it is covered!

Yes i understand what you are saying and agree with taking it in on those case, But this was not from anything like that.. I unplug one of the airbag wires while taking apart my dash. Its all connected back now so their should'nt be a problem. I just have to clear the error.

If you have a air bag in the side of your drivers seat its probably that one... it goes out the most...

I believe my light went on (flashing) because of a faulty sensor in the passenger seat.. they fixed it in a day and forgot to reconnect my heated seats!! errrg.. i took it back a week or two later and had them reconnect them, but it was a pain to drive back there for something they did .. oh well all is well
