is this normal after driving for 15-20 min that the engine seem hotter?is this normal?also after turning off the engin from a drive there is a smell like fart from the exhaust,someone said it might be bad gas?I've only pump 91 octane from shell and alot of times diffrent gas station so I don't think it's the gas..any help will be great..

 

are you talking about physically touching the engine immediately after a drive and then 15 to 20 minutes later? If so then yes, this is normal. While you are driving you not only have the wind/ambient air cooling/escaping your engine but you have your cooling system (radiator, coolant, water pump) all working and cooling. Once stopped all that air that comes through the engine bay goes away, coolant system stops, and the heat from the engine has one place to go...up. But wait, there's a big hood there. Not much room to escape.


As far as the fart smell, are you sure you didn't shart during your drive? Just kidding, could be your cats. How old is your car?

 

my car is an 07 coup only have 10300 miles give or take bought brand new last july..as far as the hot engine, after it's park and just sitting in my garage it's really hot.I mean the hood not the engine cover..I'm guessin this sounds pretty normal.all the cars I drove before it get's hot also just that my coup seems hotter..I don't know what that smell is my wife has the same problem or smell coming from her car also,it's also brand new 07 civic si sedan 8500 miles..can't figure out the smell?
