Apexi AFC

It's not as nice as an ECU reflash, but it'll still make you some power if you get it tuned correctly. But the problem is, it's not as easy to tune as most reflashes... with the right mods and a proper tune, you can see gains of up to almost 15hp on your motor, on 91 gas.
Most people I know usually use these as a secondary fuel controller btw...

Pretty easy if you know what you're doing... the thing with the G is that later models will need an RPM signal converter (for the AFC NEO).
IMO, if you have the money to spend, go for an ECU reflash. Most of the reflashes offered for the G offers multiple maps, so you won't need a secondary fuel controller to begin with.

Apexi AFC is a 'secondary' fuel controller. The primary is the ECU.
I'm a little bit familiar with the Apexi AFC's interface, you can adjust fuel injection on the fly as well as valve timing for vehicles with variable valve timing, such as hondas, toyotas, and I do believe our G's have it as well (I'm a new G owner). Does the Apexi have the same features as I stated for the G35?
How easy is it to adjust these settings by flashing the ECU? Something about reflashing memory chips doesn't seem too quick and easy.

^ yea, any piggyback would be a secondary fuel controller.
One thing I didn't mention in any of my posts earlier... (forgot)
Not sure about older G35s, but the newer ones have an intelligent ECU. Anything short of a reflash might not work because the ECU will figure out it's being tricked by a piggyback and will re adjust itself back to stock settings. You can run the new settings from the piggyback just fine, but the ECU will relearn everything in about a week or two. My friend has an APEXi AFC in his Z and it works just fine, but he has one of the first models. As for which ECU will relearn itself, I don't know the difference, but there are many members who's run into that problem.
gizmo, did you get the thing hooked up yet?
pythonjosh - a reflash is just a retuned ECU. But reflashes like the Osiris or COBB have up to five custom maps that can be changed to while on the fly. So, say on my car, I have a stock map, a tuned map, and a 100 octane map, all pretuned on a dyno. I can add a map with rev limiters and all for valet parking too if I really cared, but I can switch through the maps while on the fly without a problem. And if I accidentally switch to the 100 map while I'm running regular gas (91 tops here), I'll know because the Osiris will automatically pull back the motor to prevent knocking.
