Hi, I've been away a long time, but return with a new problem...

I've had my '04 for over 5 years now and the gas cover no longer unlocks all the time like it should. I got a price of $97.55 for a new actuator, uninstalled.

1) Has anyone done this repair? And do you have any advice?

2) Are there any good, and cheaper alternative parts available?

I went ahead and tore apart my trunk, messed with the switch, and now its back to working like it should. For now, I guess...

 

may be a sound stupid but here goes .... I go to get gas the other morning and low and behold my gas door won't open ... after carefully trying to pry it open ( no marks or scratches thank god ) and trying to remove all panels from inside the trunk ( with no tools may I add ) I gave up before I did some real damage ... as I went to get back in my car and my door wouldn't open either I hit the unlock button on my FOB and then thought hmmmm let me see ... so I walked over and my gas door was now open ... I know sounds stupid but I didn't relize the gas door locked with the doors ... may not be related to your problem but you never know.

 

mine wouldnt open recently and i was at the gas station with a fat line behind me.. i tryed opening it for awhile, car was unlocked..long story short i broke the lock trying to open it .. sucks cuz anyone can jack my gas now ..

 

Mine got stuck couple days ago when i was trying to get gas. Pissed me off so i broke the lock.

 

you can manually open the lid if you take off the trunk lining. from there, you can fix it so that it never locks again. the negative to that is that people can steal your gas or mess with it. but if you're not worried about that, then its a free fix. personally, id pay for the actuator. if you're under warranty, they'll cover it though.
