what is this switch

Hi,
just got my JDM g35, 2003 plate , auto.

I did not get an owners manual with it so I am still trying to work out what some of this stuff is.
Can any one tell me what the switch is just to the left of my boot release?
when i operate it I cant see anything coming up on the dash to tell me what it is

If you are talking about the rotary switch that moves up and down then it is the switch that changes your dashboard backlighting.

boot = trunk

This is usually what they say in the UK, just like hood = bonnet.

its just a normal rocker switch with a little light on it. I will try and get a pic of it.

I have an 04 Coupe 6MT and there are 3 switches/dials on the panel with the trunk release. First is the dial for the gauge light dimmer. Second is the trunk release and the third is the switch to turn the VDC off/on.

Yeah, the VDC is the only other thing I was thinking it could be, unless they have something different on the JDM cars.
