03 sedan problems starting

I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to what might be wrong with my car. Since friday the car sometimes does not want to start. It has full power and everything turns on but when I turn the key it just clicks. It doesnt try to turn over or anything. After about ten minutes it has turned on but when driving both the battery light and brake light come on and off together. Sometimes blinking and sometimes fully on. When driving I have also been smelling a burning smell coming from the car like as if it is about to catch on fire....

I replaced the battery 2 months ago so I dont think it is that but i am going to get another one today under warranty.. unfortunately i dont have a warranty so Im not so eager to bring it to the dealer and spend a lot for them to tell me its something I could have fixed. Any help you guys could give me is appreciated....

I've had a similar experience on my old Maxima. If it's the same thing (same automaker, so who knows)...The battery light and brake light being on at the same time meant that the alternator was bad. I had my alternator replaced at an independent shop and it fixed the problem.

The burning smell seems to be pretty common in the winter months in the cold regions. Mine does it...

Sounds like the cable(s) are loose. (or corrosion on the posts)
