Question Resetting ECU = Better Gas Millage???

so if you have read my last threads on how bad my car is on gas.. im just trying everything i can to fix the problem... i Did new oil change checked the tires use 93 premium gas and used fuel injector cleaner... Now im going to reset my ECU. i heard it helps with gas when i reset it and drive slow.

So if i leave the batter disconnected for 12 hours i read on here it will reset and hoping to get better millage??

Is this true?? will it work?? Give me some feedback please...or anything else i can do

BTW, I have a 05 G35 coupe AT with 27k

I too am interested in hearing about the ECU reset, or anything else for that matter, for better MPG.

I too have insanley bad mpg for a stock car. I'm actually ordering new exhaust and intake/air filter to see if it was the air filter. My friend (mechanic) said the air filter could be a major cause. I'm trying the ecu reset as we speek, i'll let you in on the results.

i'll save you 12 hours... take off the negative battery cable, step on the brake pedal 3 times, then hook the neg cable back up. Works for me every time. If you drive your car aggressively, the ECU learns that and gets used to it, so it knows it has to use more gas, even when you're not bashing on the throttle. When you reset it, it goes back to normal until you drive aggressively for a while again.

Gas Mileage vs G35 Coupe....?

You can reset the ECU by disconnecting the negative side of the battery for
an hour, do frequent oil changes with synthetic, keep your air filter super
clean but the reason behind your poor gas mileage is your right foot! Our
cars are fun to drive and listen to, that's the problem! No one in their right
mind ever purchased a G35 for the mileage....did you?

Did you check your air filter yet?

Try cleaning you MAF sensor too.

I've done resets, but never with mpg in mind. I'll have to monitor that next time.

No, never run tires at the max psi it states on the sidewall! Infiniti says to run
35 PSI in your tires, I run 37 because my tires are larger than OEM. I've tried
40 PSI and that makes your tires feel like rocks....try 35 and see if that
helps. Try using your cruse control as much as possible, that's a more
efficient way of driving. (whenever possible)

I'd only use cruise control on flat roads. it's meant to have your speed at constant, not the rpms. if you hit an incline on cruise control, your rpms would rev up.. to keep that 'constant' speed. RPMS are mainly what you need to watch out for.
