did you guys start having problems (replacing belts, engine repairs, etc..) with your car. i am new and looking for a g coupe, and just want a ball park of what to stay away from. Yes i know it depends on the owner, but i just want an idea.
Thanks

at 40-50k you will most definitely have gone through a set of tires and brakes. belts are starting to get tired.
after that if none of the fluids have been changed those are good to swap. transmission (auto), diffs (front and rear), brake fluid, transfer case, and coolant.

i replaced the belts and did the brake job myself
i paid $49.54 for the belts

Apparently the average to replace the drive belt is anything over 40K miles. In my case my '04 only has barely 25K miles on the clock so I'll replace the belt this summer....soon. Did the trans/differential/radiator flush this last week, it was a time thing rather than mileage.

another good point. the fluids in your vehicle have a lifespan measured in time as well as mileage. treat them all as you would treat your engine oil - exchange them at regular intervals.
im at 190,000km! i have an 05 coupe 5at and beside fluids iv had to change pads/rotors, rear caliper lower bolt, seatbelt springs, tires, tire pressure sensors in the rims. most ppl say the auto tranny goes fast BS!! i have mine with a sprint booster and it really is fine. i drive alot and have talked with ppl about the tranny and they break the auto tranny is for 2 reason: they use shiftronic very few times and they dont really know that you need to let off the gas wen shifting gears wen driving relaxed in the city with non aggressive cam timing and secondly the auto tranny shift really early to save gas wen it best for the revs to go 3300rpm at first>second, 3000rpm second >3rd, 2700 3rd to 4th, 4>5 doesnt matter much but still somewhere in the mid 2000rpms. iv also taken the car to dunville race track and its fine no suspension rattles or anything of the sort.
the only bad thing more cabin rattle noises then before but even that is drowned by the exhaust noise.
