Engine Bay Hose Sizes!
Ok so i know that some people, including myself, would like to change up some of the hoses in the engine bay to some braided hose. So i thought i'd make a diagram to show the different hose sizes so that people can know what to buy. Hopefully rookie, randy, kurtis, or anyone else who knows can chime in and give some of the sizes as i'm not familiar with them.
i used 98intrigues bay, if you want me to use another just lmk.
Red(coolant) -
Blue(vacuum) -
Green(vacuum) -
Purple(vacuum) -
Yellow(coolant) -
Thanks.
And i know you can't run braided hose on the coolant hose to the radiator but you can sleeve it.

i think socalted posted the sizes in a thread a few years back...give me a few minutes to track it down
FWIW, the green & purple lines have tight bends so its hard to use most braided lines on them. You may be better off sleeving those. Also, if you're gonna do the work to swap out to braided lines, you should just relocate the blue line so its no longer visible. The yellow line can be replaced with a -11, but I've heard from a reputable source that you can use a smaller -10 or -8AN lines there too.

socalted's post with hose recommendations & sizes is below. the type and manufacturer of the hose will dictate which hose you get. once you decide on the type of hose you want, for example, pro-lite 350 or perform-o-flex, you can measure your line and see which size corresponds to it.
if not going for shiney, I'd suggest Earl's pro-lite 350 for light weight and zero abrasiveness, plus you won't need as many 45 or 90 degree connectors.
Kinda hard to get points for at shows if you are not there to point them out. Pretty stealthy.
One thing though is that you aren't supposed to use it with brake fluids. The other teflon lined hoses can be used. ALTHOUGH... I had my hoses installed by Earl's team (not holley) and they did use a couple on my master cylinder. 30k later and no issues.

I know this thread is mad old, but I've been looking to replace my hoses with earl's hoses and fittings. Even after reading this thread and reading many others, I just can't seem to figure out the sizing translation of "1 1/4 inches" to the sizing of earl's hoses numbers of "2, 4, 10, etc ..."
Any help would be appreciated, I don't know if i'm just not understanding the information or what. Call me a noob if you want, desperate here
