Problem With Power Window

The driver side window will not roll down on my fiances 2003 G35 Coupe. It was working fine then it started acting up at times. Every once in a while it wouldn't come down but for the most part it would work. Now it won't come down. Last week it worked for a day but that was it. Is this normal to happen on these cars? Is it a simple fix or any ideas on what it may be?

Thanks!!!

yes it's common. the fix is to replace the window motor. get a factory replacement and not the remanufactured crap from an autoparts store. the new motors from Infiniti are supposed to be better and fix a problem the original ones had (that's what the dealer told me). You can try cleaning out the armature from the carbon build up but it will fail again. I cleaned my motor twice, but it kept failing so I got a new one from rockauto and that failed in a few months. Finally I got a new one from Infiniti and that has been going good for a while now.

after you do it a couple of times it gets pretty easy. takes me around 30min total turn around time now since I've taken it apart around 4 times already. But the first time was a bit of a pain to figure things out. put aside 2 hours. there must be around 20 bolts you need to remove to get to the motor and then you have to wrestle with the motor and cable assembly.

One tip is to lower the glass all the way or duct tape it in place, as soon as you remove the motor the glass will drop. if you don't it will fall very fast and could break or injure you.

I've been having a similar problem with my window motor. I found a couple of infiniti dealers online that sell the motor ( new and not remanufactured )

Most auto parts store sell them. I get mine (have replaced 3) from Autozone. I bought the one with a lifetime warranty so that when it goes out again (NOT IF, BUT WHEN), i won't have to pay again. This has worked out 2 times for me so far

Look on ebay. There are infiniti dealers that sell new window motors and of course ship it out to you so you won't have to worry about the long drive.

I bought a refurbed one from autozone. It failed once and they replaced it for free. While getting one from the dealer might be a safe choice, I like the 2 year warranty that autozone has on the motor. If it fails after the warranty is up I'll get one at the dealership.
