Grinding or rubbing issue between 15-30mph

Just popped my G cherry and bought a Lakeshore Slate 05 Coupe 2 weeks ago. When I test drove the car I felt this grinding or rubbing noise at low speeds. It reminded me of the problem I had with my Accord Coupe when the rotors were warped so I said maybe take a look at the brakes. The Infinity dealer where I bought the G said, no problem, we will take care of the brakes at no charge.

So I took it in on Monday and they inspected it further and found out that not only the front brakes are bad, but the tires are also an issue. They gave me the choice of replacing the brakes or the tire for free. I opted for the front rotors and pads. They did tell me I could get another year at least out of the tires, but would still have the grinding problem. They also recommend that I have an alignment done every 6 months due to the tight, touch G suspension. They said this will make my future tires last longer, and not have this problem in the future.

Has anyone on this forum experienced their tire making that grinding noise before?

Also, I would like to get some recommendations for new all-weather tires that are affordable and quiet. I have the stock 17" wheels with Bridgestone Potenza's. I like the Bridgestone tires, yet they are pricey. They are like $200 ea. I was hoping to find a tire at around $130 ea. that would be quiet and grippy. Maybe I only need the front tires replaced and get an alignment.

Thanks in advance...

I'm not sure how bad tires could cause a grinding noise. Loud road noise yes, but not grinding...

Well, I found out that it is called tire cupping and it is really becoming an annoying sound to my everyday driving.

I hope all I need is a tire replacement and an alignment. Otherwise, I could have a world of trouble with suspension as well. That will get costly. The local Infinity dealer did not say anything was wrong with the suspension, but I have read that cupping can be casued by bad struts or shocks.

What do you guys think? DOes anyone have experience with suspension problems this early on a 2005 G Coupe?

You are going to get flamed for saying infinity

Get new front tires and an alignment. I bet your road noise will disappear. Though I'd imagine your problem to be more related to uneven wear of the tires caused by the amount of negative camber.

Thanks Tanner. I hope I don't get flamed too much.

My 06 G35 makes that same sound I think. Almost like I can hear everything the tire goes across, if that makes any sense. I got new tires and rims that were a lower profile and much wider (staggered) and it went away for a while, but now it is back. I guess I'm used to the "road" sound but I think my problem is that I need new suspension. Every bump seems really rough. Not sure if it is the tires or the suspension.
