Internet Diagnosing FTL..I know but come in (Ticking noise)

I know this is a long shot but maybe someone else had this problem here before and can shed some light on me.

My 04 make this stupid ticking noise and Its driving crazy. So when I purchased the car, the dealer put fresh oil in but they probably put in regular oil and then I switched to M1 after 3k miles and this noise started to appear slowly and slowly then I switched Penzoil Ultra.

I just want some ideas on what might be wrong with the car so when I take into a mechanic I dont look completly clueless and they can BS me.

So here it is guys, its a crappy cell phone video I took. Its the best I can do and I will upload a day time video tomorrow.

Thank you all in advance.

- Dineth

Video:

Car runs fine, motor feels good and doesnt feel like its down on power or anything and I do use 93 ocatane gas religiously cant be lower grade gas.

Anything leaking under the car? Have you checked the water pump?

Get a better video so we can tell more from what it sounds like. I will link you some videos and you tell me what you think.

To me it sounds like you need to get the valve adjusted, piston slap or timing chain. I would change to a thick 30 weight oil like German castrol 0w30 or look into UOA for 40 weight oil. That will help reduce the noise but alas the problem still exists. Unless you want to go into pouring money then i see no point unless you got WARRANTY.

Its closer to the first video. Comes from the left side of the motor I think, definetly not from the right (Intake side). I however dont feel a power loss, maybe it did but not enough to be noticable.

Have you been tracking your oil usage and see if you have any oil consumption. Are you running low towards the end of your oil change. When you say left side do you mean driver side towards the front of the car.

Driver's side F to R: 2-4-6
Passenger side F to R: 1-3-5

One thing I forgot to mention was, before I switched to Penzoil, I braked hard oneday in traffic and my oil light came on. I got really scared and checked the oil and it was low. I add in M1 and changed the oil couple of days later with Penzoil.

Its really hard for me to check the oil level accuratly with the dipstick. Damn design of it so stupid.

And when I mean the left side, I actually mean the passenger side of the car. So to be clear, to me the sounds is coming from the passenger side. (In the video, I keep the phone near the front passenger wheel)

Video 1 - Cold start. Noise is not that audible, I kept the phone where the sound is most noticable to me.

Video 2 - Car is almost warm in the begining and pretty warm at the end. Pls watch till the end as I rev the motor and once the car settles back on idle, the ticking is pretty audible on the crappy phone.

Sorry I have a phone that is year and a half old so video quality sucks.

I also noticed what might be a leak near the dipstick. I took pictures and Im gonna post them in a bit.

I am guessing your valve cover gasket is leaking and probably the spark plug seals as well. The noise could be the Fuel damper but I doubt it only thing that led me to beleive that is the noise is coming from the passenger side back area. Hold the fuel damper line and see if the knocking/thumping is the same that you hear.

When you say the car warms up and makes the noise sounds like something internal to the engine and I would start by trying the german castrol or thick 30 weight and see if noises reduces. If it does reduce than it is internal to the engine and probably not the fuel damper.

No, the noise does not start once the car is warmed up, Its just more noticable then to the camera bcus alot of the other noises are lower bcus the engine is turning at lower rpms.

I can still hear it even during a cold start.
