blinking airbag light

HELP
I just recently bought a 2005 G35 and the airbag light just started blinking on the dash. Is this an easy fix or do I have to take it to a dealer. The closest is 50 miles away so any help would be greatly appreciated

I have a g35x 2005 sedan,
Same srs light was blinking for me, it was a 2 second fix with a mechanic i know. Simply hooked up a computer to see what it was and cleared it, mine just happened to be my side curtain airbags, probably just a bad connector. I dont care to get it checked out but i wrote down the error # for a quick fix if it happens to come on again.

I also think a dealer will do this for free, the blinking light is just annoying as can be.

Sadly I've had this problem for a while now. Since last year actually and a couple times I did a reset and it wouldn't show up for months. Recently the resets are useless and do nothing because they just come back within a day or so. When I took mine to the dealer they replaced that side curtain airbag on the drivers side. Light went away and sadly came back 2 months later with another code. Now this time it was the module in the center console that controls all the airbags I'm being told. It would be another 1 grand to replace. I'm going to try and see if it is just a bad connector or what. Otherwise I'll just ebay the piece and see if I can do it myself.

Anyone had this problem and actually fixed it? I would like to know on how abouts to go.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I have a friend who has a portable diagnostic computer that I have used in the past on another car. I will give it a go and clear it out and see what happens. If it works, I will note it in a reply

look up the airbag reset procedure for g35/350z, dealer charges $120 to reset and follow the same steps. the initial part of the procedure tells you what error code, the second part clears it and resets. it was quite accurate because having converted my 350z to a 4 seater using g35 seats, i accidentally popped off the airbag sensor on the passenger side wall and that was the exact error code that came up.

I found a easy fix in another thread, tried it and it worked perfectly. All you have to do is turn the ignition on, (not start), wait for the airbag light to go off. Immediately turn off the key. Repeat 4 times. The first time I tried it, it didn't work perfectly, but the blinking did slow down. I tried it again and ten the blinking quit

I just recently bout a G35 Coupe 2006 last month and I was running into the same issue. I was able to resolve it by doing a simple reset. I used the below link. I hope this helps.

this may be a newb question. When doing the reset do you turn the ignition all the way to off 4 times or do you just turn it back one position so all the lights ont he dash go off?

3 times to enter Diagnostic mode, 3 times again to return to user mode;

ignition to "ON" 7 seconds until SRS is off.
"OFF" for 3 seconds.
repeat this 2 more times.

now ignition to "ON", you are in Diagnostic mode.

it will flash the codes as needed.

now repeat about and it goes back to User mode with codes all cleared/reset.

Thanks. Tried this morning waiting at the bus stop and had trouble reading the small phone screen... It did blink slower after the initial attempt. After running through the steps again it was back to a consistent blink. I will give it a shot tonite and hope for the best. If history is any indication I'm about to get reamed.

Update: Tried the reset, always went back to the constant flash. Did see a different flash pattern when in diagnostic mode, but couldn't make out a pattern. Unhooked negative terminal for 5 minutes, still on when I started it. Tried reset again with same results. Time for the dealer - POS car. Gonna be my first and last Infiniti.

The best way to describe the diagnostic flashes is off for a couple seconds, then 2 slow blinks, off for a couple seconds then a quick blink.

Quick update. After driving to work and letting the car get good and warm I was able to reset the light. That was a week ago. It came on again yesterday, coincidentally the temps had dropped quite a bit. It wouldn't reset last night, I only have a mile to my busstop so the car doesn't get too warm. So I drove to work today, again letting the car get nice and warm. Once at work in the parking garage I tried again, this time it reset after the first run through, didn't even go to diagnostic mode.

Is there any chance this is temp related causing some sort of connection issue or am I being to optomistic?

2 slow 1 fast is code 21; This Relates to Side airbag or airbag circuit fault (RH) (passenger side). check the connection, constant reseting wont resolve the problem if the connection is still detected as bad. example to compare is resetting a bad catalytic converter code p0420, you have to do something about it, its not going to magically fix itself. code will forever return again and again till its fixed.

Yeah, it will reset for a day or so, but comes right back. I'm assuming the connections are under the seat. Think I may be at the point it will need to go to the dealer, hate the thought. thanks for the reply.

theres only 2 connections that could usually get loose on the passenger side, the passenger seat or the connector on the frame sensor which is located just behind the interior panel where the seat belt mechanism is hidden. i got this code from accidentally knocking it loose while wiring my my car audio power wire for amps.
