new engine
new engine
I got a g35 2003.5 and has 240,00 miles.
but now my coolant is draining and the engine is running hot.. no licks, afraid it is the head gaskets, over 1,200 to fix. any places to buy a good engine. any good sites. also can a 2006 g35 sedan engine fit into a 2003 car??

Biggest question is can you do the work yourself? If you're just looking for a stock replacement check wrecking yards or CL, you should be able to find one for $1000-1500.
If you have an automatic and the sedan is an automatic the engine will fit. If you have a 6MT and the sedan is a 6MT it will not fit.

Here is a good option

I have a 2006 6mt engine in my 03.5. The only difference between the two is the injectors and knock sensor. If you have an auto you will need the flywheel as well from your old engine. But all mountings and hardware are the exact. The only difference is REVup vs NON REVup.
You can use your old injectors and old knock sensor and have a 06 engine.
Now, OP..
What issue are you having, where is the water/fluid draining from?
If it's being pushed out of the reservoir tank you have to first replace and/or test the thermostat. If replacing or confirming that the thermostat is 100% functional then make sure you have removed ALL air from the coolant system. If the problem persists you can conduct a exhaust gas test on the coolant from the reserve tank. If the test comes back positive.. You will need a new engine.
If the Engine Oil Dip Stick is that of the color resembling chocolate milk the head gasket is blown you need a new engine.
If you have white smoke coming from the exhaust you need a new engine.
Being that you have a 03.5 that means you have a fan-clutch.
When was the last time you replaced this IMPORTANT component?
I'm willing to bet never. SO test it: Here's what you can do (at your own risk):
Proceed intelligently YOU CAN RISK SEVERE INJURY.
Roll up an entire news paper like a stick... This will give you length and safety.
Run the engine for about 10-12 minutes with the hood closed this will allow the engine to reach near operating temperature. Which means all components should be up to it's operating temperature including the fan clutch.
With the engine running carefully and gradually attempt to slow down the fan if you notice the fan does NOT slow down remove the news paper. IF it does stop.... you have a defective component which means you ARE NOT properly cooling the radiator. Therefore this is the cause of your problem or not just part of the problem.
At this point if you have overheated the car one too many times chances are you warped the head(s) and you're not just fixing issue after issue.
If you need any help please feel free to ask.
If you search some of my threads you will find Operating temperatures in highway/city and coming severe conditions. This can give you a good guidance as to where you're temps should be at.
Wrong,

Cam sensors are the same exact if i recall correctly. (I don't remember changing the sensors at all)
